Is your heating ON or OFF?

We have the heating off at the moment, usually try to only have it on twice a day (morning and night for 15 mins each time), but recently where it's been so cold it's been on quite a few more that two times.
I try to layer up, like I am now and often wear my tina turner hat.Feb Grocery challenge: £120/£3000 -
Heating on.
Bedroom Heater on. I won't use Storage Heaters here as they make me ill.
Like others here I am dressed in layers, track bottoms, thermal tights, thermal vest, top, cosy wool dress, cardy, and Mr T Uggs.
I also have a Room Thermometer which is now at 15 degrees the coolest one can be without slamming the heating [back on].#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Everyone ok?
This morning my bedroom windows were iced up, and so beautiful it really is worth being a little cold for. The sun rise turned them in to something of heavenly beauty. Thank goodness i have seen something so beautiful.
So i crept through the cold house and down stairs, which felt warmer, thanks i thought, to the woodburner on till late last night. I went through into the kitchen and the blast of warm air was delicious, the heater was on low in there. I went to the themometrethinking i would have a great number to report and was genuinely shocked to read that what felt like the warmest room in my house and alarmingly comfortable was in fact three degress.
The room the dogs sleep in had no ice but a lot of condensation, and they are warm under their lamp.
The doors were frozen such, took a while to get out0 -
Just managed to catch up with all the posts
I really need to try and read each day or i fall too far behind lol.
The temp here at the mo is minus 1.9 outdoors and 18 inside. I`ve just got back in with the dogs and i`m thawing out a bit. The temp is set to fall much lower over the next few days with snow forecast at the weekend.
I put my readings into the suppliers website yesterday and in just over a month we`ve used £70 gas and £32 electricity. I did expect the gas to be a bit more as the heating was cranked up over the festive season when we had visitors and the electric kettle also went bang so we have been using the gas kettle - we also cook on gas too. Still a bit in credit from the summer so hopefully we won`t end up owing too much before the warmer weather.
I`ve been keeping the house at a steady 18 degrees 24 hours a day for little oldie and as i`ve been doing this i don`t think that we`ve done too badly, i have been tempted to turn the heating off for a couple of hours a day but deep down i know that all the saved gas will just be used quickly to get everything back up to temperature again so i`ve not succumbed.
The electricity has been a nice level as everything has been done at night once the E7 kicks in, the washing machine goes on every night without fail as does the dishwasher. I don`t know how i`d have survived without these recently as my shifts have been all over the place, lots of dirty doggy towels to wash too as its been so wet and muddy lately. Its actually quite nice that everything outside is frozen as i`m using two less towels per day from the doggy collection.
Just been reading the latest news about water prices rising, petrol is on the rise again too so will need to do some creative budgeting this summer to eke out my wages. On the plus side the new seals that i put around the outside doors have worked a treat, the rain has stayed outside for the first time ever even though part of one doorframe has broken off. Hopefully i`ll be able to replace that one before next winter.
Keep warm everyone, spring will soon be here!

lostinrates, sounds beautiful! though I thought my place was cold today till I read your post!
12.3 indoors today and I'm cold! Actually though I think you do get used to this as such, my house growing up was much colder.0 -
Our heating is ON!! Have got away with many months of minimal heating, but the kids have had chicken pox and so I felt they needed a bit of TLC.
ITs going off in a bit though, and we are going out for the afternoon!

Our heating is on, and has been for a few weeks now. I had an op on wrist, then OH got Shingles, I caught flu, then passed it to him, so didn't want it to be too cold and make things worse.
It's struggling though, as it was -8 overnight, still -6 now, and expected to drop to -11 overnight. Apt was around 21 degrees this morning though, which is nice. Given up on being economical at the moment! Just want to be warm at least.
At least it isn't on all day though now, as we are now both back at work again.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
My heating is on all the time! Housemate turns it on for 12 hours a day, its driving me mad!
i had it on a timer, for morning and then in the evening and radiators on about 3 most of the time, sometimes up a bit for a few hours. The last 3 days she has come home at lunchtime, heating goes on, all raidiators on 5, boiler up full until 11 at night! We don't need it on that much, then she goes out for 3 hours, leaving it all on full. Last night I came home to find her in sweatpants and a vest top it was so warm, so I put boiler down to half and then all radiators to 2 as the house had warmed up so just need to keep it constant.
I have tried explaining to keep radiators on low heat and just a few hours, but she doesn't listen.
Also there is something wrong with the system and the pipes bang all the time near my bedroom, once the heating is on I can't sleep. I tried to bleed one but no air came out, just water so I need to rethink that one.
Sorry for the rant, it just annoys me, that if we just wore a couple more layers or moved around rather than sitting and watching tv we will warm up and not need it on!
Last winter I didn't have the heating on half as much as she does now, and it was fine.0 -

Beadgirl - the banging will be air trapped in the pipes and as the pump moves it through the system it will eventually work its way into one of the rads.
Bleed all the rads on the same day and then try again a week or so later. My system always ends up with the largest amount of air workings its way into the smallest bedroom but i still bleed all the rads to be sure.
All the air has gone out of ours now *crosses fingers* but it can take a while to move through the system, weeks in some cases.
