It's been amazingly hot here - can't believe its October - we have eaten outside 2 days running now, didn't do that much in the 'summer' this year! I have to say I don't even want to think about central heating just at the moment!

lol, mines definately off. However I should point out that our boiler gave up the ghost in May this year, so we have no heating or hot water. Poverty is a bad thing when winter approaches and you cant afford to have your boiler replaced ( its totally knackered bless it). Good job they make 'em hardy up't'north :D

I agree. We moved DS into uni on Saturday in glorious sunshine. It really was like a day in August. No chance of CH gong on yet :j
Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker :)

We moved our youngest son into uni on saturday too, in lovely sunshine. Having been through it before with our eldest son I know how much easier it is in sun rather than rain. Mind you by the time we had heaved all his stuff to the top floor of his accommodation block DS was as red as a beetroot with sweat pouring off him. I don't think he appreciated the heat much.
Eldest son was 21 last Friday and 21 years ago we had brilliant sunshine for a week or so then too.

Pudding, you are not the only person in that boat. ;) I have a woodburner, so I can keep one room warm. The main thng that worries me is protecting pipes when we get ''the deep freeze''. :o

Yesterday was the warmest day of the heatwave here, but the last two nights have been cooler that it was three nights ago. Today is predicted to be the last of the warm days. I'm making the most of it with all the windows wide open (though upstairs keeps filling up with fallen leaves :rotfl:) to get a really good blow of fresh air through the house.

Commiserations to people living with knackered boilers, life is not happy without hot water. Ours is supposed to be fixed on the 17th and we will have our heating back. Forget what a nice deep bath feels like ! I know we mostly grew up in houses that just had one room heated - but it's different when you're a child you dont notice .

Boiling day here again,i'm franctally washing everything i can especially the dog beds and blankets there always a nightmare to dry.
Hope those with boiler problems keep warm ,i intend to keep mine off as long as possiable but at least i know it's there if i cant stand it any longer.Hopefuully my CH will last a few more years it's getting old now,if it packs up i won't be able to replace it .
  • Still off. Hoping it will be off until November although weather forecast thinks the latter half of October will be frosty, so I guess we'll have to take it a few days at a time.

It's 26 degrees today but I am cold at work because our room gets no direct sunlight at all!

I had the heating on for a few hours last week as I had visitors coming lol Really grudged doing that ;)
Still off apart from that though - us poor Scots aren't getting the Indian summer promised to all the UK lol

Still off here, but that may change in the next couple of weeks.

It's 23 here today, but quite cloudy and threatening to rain. Forecast is rain for the rest of the week with the temps descending each day, with Sat having a low of 6 predicted, and a high of just 13! So, quite a change in a week, but expected.

Just so long as the mossies b'gger off, I don't really care. Another got me on Sat night. Actually, I think it was 2 very close together, but whatever.
