It's 5c here and raining.
Got one done.
Not sure what temp is here, net readings suggest our high today will be 1 celcius. Its nothing like the bone aching cold of last week, thats certain, but the troughs disagree!0 -
Put mine on for 40 mins when I got up as it was 13º in the lounge - now it's a "balmy" 14º! :rotfl:
It's -2 here at the moment, but feels colder than that to me.
Had 2 x 1hr bursts yesterday. I still can't decide whether it's cheaper to have it on constant and low or odd 1 hours bursts from stone cold, and people on here also seem undecided, or at least, can't agree, so I'm just doing what I think is the most economical.
Went to bed at 7pm last night and Saturday (what an exciting life I lead!) as I just have not been able to get warm on either day over the weekend, and by 7pm of both days, I'd had enough, and went to bed and played on the pc and watched some TV in bed under the warmth of my duvet. We had a helluver frost last night and also freezing fog, its still foggy and very very cold out, its -1 still at this time a day......
Heating been on all day, at least to have the heating on cheers the home up.....:D0 -
ok peeps, you can finally relax about me and my non-heated house. i've finally relented to my OH and my family's dying request. As I'm with a bad cold atm and off work today, I decided last night to have the heating (radiators only) on for about an hour. Yes, it was v. comfortable indeed. Managed to strip off my hat and scarf (but kept the blanket and fleece house coat, thermal top and jumper on, leggings, jeans and 2 pairs of fluffy socks on!)
So from now on, in the evenings only, it'll be on for an hours at the max. and then when the weather's slightly warmer, say above 0 degree celsius, then it might go off....0 -

I can barely feel mine tbh, although I know its set low. Cheering this place up ATM are the orange segments drying in the oven. The smell is outrageously good from when I opened the oven and tuned them over.
I'd be amazed if we have got above zero tbh. The frost is absolutely crunchy still and the cats, who are stir crazy begged to go out, then, when I let them out, came hightailing it back in immeadiately.0 -

Just been out in the car and the thermometer says -10, and its the middle of the day!! Cant believe how cold it is, but we are all keeping warm, despite having no central heating. Just picked up some more coal, trying to keep a couple of rooms warm until oil gets delivered.
Got dressed in front of the fire in the living room this morning, ah happy childhood memories of the days when the bit of the lounge in front of the fire was warm and the rest of the house was freezing!0 -

My mother and I used to share a bed when I was very little, in a huge unheated house in London. My dad was working somewhere hot. Mother and I used to have races in getting dressed to get up and out of the bed. Only looking back now do I relaise how cold my mother must have been and how hard she must have worked to make things like that fun.:o0 -
so blankets on ,kettle on ,slippers on,nose warmer on:jand heating most definitely definitely on. last year heating bill was so gigantic iit could of sunk a battle ship but when it is freezing like this and your cold with a cold the heating most certainly is switched on also with a cu p of hot tea and a big juicy bar of milk chocolate the biggest bar cause i hate winter.;)0
