i had it on not long agin as in october im sure it wasn't as cold then so kicking myself now for the whole not waiting bit bg gave me credit on the leech meter a month ago (£15) as i have due fuel pre payment with them, would have been more handy on the gas

if i knew how/what i was doing i have a empty fireplace, there is the surround and then just a big gap, need something to put in it (no idea of what or costs) and would need the chimney swept, a huge hole in the wall (thats how i see it) is not great for keeping heat in

For the time being to keep the draught out some others on here have suggested stuffing an old pillow or duvet up the chimney! Seriously! But make sure you remove it on christmas eve ;)

:hehe im not here this christmas were off to my mums, i will stay there if the boys go to there dads on the 27th

santa has a key for our place:D

had a pm about the fireplace/chimney so going to check it out and look at getting someone to sweep chimney then try freecycle to see if i can get my fireplace working, i think it would make a huge difference to get that all good instead of a blank space, my mum has a fireguard in her outhouse

and if not i can ask on freecycle for a duvet
    Debt free

My central heating is now on and probably for the duration (the day we aim for switch-off is 1st April). On in the morning for an hour or so and then again on in the evening for a couple of hours.

Radiator in my bedroom is off as I hate central heating when sleeping (it dries my throat) so bedroom being colonised by penguins (just about!). Hot water bottle, double quilt and woolen blanket help - to the point that I wake up in the night, throw off the blanket and open the window for some fresh air - much to DH's dismay!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

I like a cold bedroom too, a cold bedroom but warm bed. Its less comfortable at first, but one certainly sleeps better (and cuddles more)

I am always cold in bed and OH is always boiling, so I keep the room coolish but my side of the bed has piles of covers on. It looks like that princess and the pea thing.:)

We gave in last night and put the central heating on for about an hour and a half. I must admit, it felt lovely:D

Haven't needed it on at all today though, so another day's gas saved:)

Still on timer here morning and evening. 7.00am-8.30am and 7.00pm-9.00pm - though tonight it got 'fast-forwarded' at 6.00pm. Although it's been a lovely day it was freezing once the sun went down; I'd been to the GP at 5.00 and was freezing when I got back home again.
