Is your heating ON or OFF?

  • Wow, can't believe some people are contemplating the heating already! We're still sat with the patio doors open til about 1200, and DS's rom thermometer hasn't been below 21 degrees! And we're still in summer weight duvets.
We only have three heaters in the house anyway, one in the living room, and one in each of the bedrooms (and stoopid not-so-Economy 7!)... Ours is turned off at the wall (I sleep with the windows open all year round, and OH is a 'hottie' ;) anyway. The heater in DS's room is set so the temp doesn't go below 16/17 degrees, but is only turned on an hour before bedtime as he doesn't use the room much during the day, and our storage heater is set to 1 output and between 1-3 input depending on how cold its going to be ( I did set it to 6 in the early days of living here, and woke up suffocating at 3am!)

I like the idea of fleece on the curtains, will be looking out for cheap fleece to do that this year :)

Last night was the first night I felt cold and tonight I caved in and lit the fire. The central heating is staying off for as long as possible though!
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

I got out my fleeces and house boots, as yesterday and today have been quite chilly. But no way the heating is going on until at least end October. I have my water bottles ready too, lol.

  • hello all, newbie here!

Our heating is well and truly off. After surviving in a horrible student house last year (ground floor, wooden flooring, single glazed wooden patio doors, stingy housemates) I'm now in a double glazed studio apartment with only one outside wall and another studio above us. With the two of us it gets very cosy. The only downside is the bathroom which is all tiled and have 2 outside walls but it's okay for now.
    Times is 'ard.
  • I caved in a put the gas fire on today because it was soooo cold and damp in here today. Still not putting the heating on until end Oct 4-5 weeks to go. Am I strong enough not to cave in sooner, I'll find out soon if it stays like this. I'll need a will of iron to last that long!

  • OFF!

But I'm sure it's a lot easier in a terrace in town with virtually full insulation in the south than those in the country, further north, or who aren't as lucky on the insulation levels. Also no small children, we had the heating on a lot more when DD was younger.
    Put the kettle on. ;)
  • its off and will be staying off till end of oct. It has turned chilly down in kent but not cold enough for me to have the heating on.
I will lose 2 stone by this summer!!!!!!
