Is your heating ON or OFF?

Mine is now off for most of the time. Comes on for about 20mins around 10pm for a wee boost but thats it. Should be like this until late September.0

I have just realised I haven't put my radiators on for over 2 months! Do you think I should put them on every couple of weeks just for a hour so the boiler doesn't have a fit when I start using them full time again?0

Must admit I've not heard of doing this before though somebody may know differently. Mine is usually off for 8 or 9 months of the year, I just make sure I bleed the radiators before switching back on in the winter. I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?

I'm not sure what a professional would advise.:) Is it an old temperamental system? If it's not, then I don't think I'd bother. And even if it's old, maybe you could just switch it on to check if it's working but not leave it running. Mine's quite new and I only use it when needed ... am hoping not to touch heating till after 10th November (the date I caved in last year!).Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Doesn't your boiler heat the water as well?0 -
Mines been off since April and im hoping it'll stay that way until Oct maybe even Nov but yesterday i popped it on for an hour. Unheard of in July but here its a really really wet summer
Went into town and the heavens opened. It takes 10 mins both ways so we got absolutely soaked!! DD had wellies and raincoat (it looked like threatening rain when we left but couldnt put it off) but once home she was freezing and shaking so i stripped her off, warmed her by the heater and warmed up her pjs.
I'm all for saving money and energy etc but when it comes to my DD things change.Emergency Savings #73 = £1,500/£2,000

Just on dandy-candy's point about the boiler... I don't really use hot water from my boiler as I shower most of the time which is a separate hot water source and I use my dishwasher to clean plates etc. Would it matter if I switched off my boiler over the summer? or is that just madness?Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

Im still in debit with gas company trying to clear it b4 i switch on !
what are you all planning to do once u start to feel the cold ?0 -
Hi Owens
Perfect thread for you - Is your heating ON or OFF? I've found it getting slightly cool but no where near cold. I have a hot water bottle glued to me at all times regardless
I'll merge this later when you get some more input

I'm feeling the cold too. I put socks and a jumper on which warms me up (no need for them during the day) and I have my laptop on my lap which keeps that bit warm. I think the heating will go on in September in this house unless the weather gets dramatically better.0
