Its still off here - quite pleased with myself!
We have big draughty sash windows and have gone to some effort to reduce the draught. excluder foam in the joins and film covering the window - working really well. We have a aga so have a contant heat in the kitchen and a heater in the bathroom which i think helps.
I saw it said 6 on the temprature controls in the hall yesterday. we must have hardened to it! We have 4 children between 7 and 6 months so have had to find a balance between being economical and not freezing the children. The beds are warmed by a hot water bottle before bed and i replaced the kids duvets with 10.5 tog and baby has her sleeping bags and blankets.
We collected 2 kittens today to join the family, hopefully once they have settled in they will keep laps warm as well as keep the mice away!0 -

Is this a plug in thing that looks like a radiator?
It will use the same as a convector heater, fan heater or any other electric heater since all the energy is converted to heat.
The difference is the pattern of heating you need. Fan heaters are great for a boost and directional heating in the bedroom but would be noisy in the living room watching tv.
A low setting and keeping an eye on consumption should be ok.
At the risk of sounding silly do you have gas central heating?0 -
