Is your heating ON or OFF?

Mrs T,
Is it waterproof? I'm rather worried that I'd end up spilling a pint of beer and killing myself.

Thanks for taking the time out to reply, I'll certainly have a think about this. In my case it would be spilling a nice cuppa :coffee:;) so I'll have to make it a rule - "No drinking under cover" sounds like something the SAS would say :rotfl:.
I'm having more bother keeping cool since we've been having the multi-fuel burner on, but now that it's a bit warmer, I'm letting it burn out and this fleece sounds like a great idea for the in-between times when it's not cold enough for a fire but cold enough to be uncomfortable :snow_grin.
Thanks again :TSome people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

It may not be water proof, but spilling beer on it should not get you electrocuted. It will get you wet though !0 -
I just wondered if anyone has noticed any savings, great or small - on their utility bills after our drive to keep the heating off as long as possible?
We received an estimated account for our dual fuel with Eon and they estimated we would be £48 in debit (I could almost see the follow-up letter arriving wanting to put the direct debits up again). However on checking the meter it was evident they had over-estimated  and we are in fact in credit by 12p. Okay, not much I'll grant you- but imagine what it would have been had we used the heating as we have in previous years . As it is we are still managing on free wood with a shovel of smokeless fuel to keep the multi-fuel stove on over-night. We have a combi boiler so hot water is on demand - and I've even turned the thermostat down on that so that it isn't as hot.
I truly hope that everyone else on the thread benefits from being so frugal, always remembering to still be sensible and not put frugality above health.
Best regards,

a great saving in oil expenditure since having our wood burning stoves fitted. these have become our primary heating source but i'm reckoning the wood is going to cost £400+ a year :-("The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0

The thread and board inspired me to keep the heating off as long as I could on some of the v.cold days we have expereinced. My gas bill came in a bit less than I expected, probably about a tenner under but it is the next quarter's bill which is usually the higher one for me.
I wish I could afford to have a wood burning stove in the lounge and I would switch off the radiator in there. I have only used my gas fire once as it is rubbish and I can't feel any heat from it and watch the flames go up the chimney!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
I woudn't say the cost of our gas has been any higher this year than previous years despite the very cold weather. We only have the thermostat on 15 degrees now instead of 17, and sit with bedspreads round us. We have prepayment metres for both gas and electricity. I must say I have noticed a considerable increace in the amount I am spending on electricity much more than the gas., despite the fact that I follow everyone around turning things off. I put a timer on the bedroom tv as I have a terrible habit of falling asleep with it on. I have turned off the extra freezer as it didn't have much in, but nothing seems to have helped much.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I am single and live in a flat. Over the last year I have used my heating about 3 days and pay my EBICO gas by monthly direct debit. Today I have been informed that I am £80 in CREDIT, this is based on actual meter readings. I may find out if i can reduce my DD payments and feel like treating myself - I mights put the heating on for a bit:DTotal Wins 2011: Zilch
