Its going to dip a bit tomorrow but sunshine will more than compensate for it.Swipe said:Long may the weather stay mild for the foreseeable. My usage so far is down on last year.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

It's going to be mild again for the next week. I've turned down my living room storage heater to three quarters input setting and will consider switching off the bedroom heater which is on the very lowest setting if the room is above 14C when I wake up tomorrow. I'd much rather do that than remove an extra duvet.5

It was so mild today and for the most part dry. The temperature is set to rise to 15degC mid-week although it is going to be v wet and windy with it, which is not only crazy for December but rather a shame for me as I would dearly love to get a couple of loads of washing dried on the line outside.Swipe said:It's going to be mild again for the next week. Come March I'll be able to be less particular about selecting washing days....15 days until the solstice and daylight starts moving in the right direction once more. The dark evenings have hit me hard this year.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

On the plus side there's even less time to wait till the evenings start getting lighter, the earliest sunset is around 13th December if I'm not mistaken so only 6 days to go, in fact where I am the sun sets about a minute later on the solstice than it does today. The drawback of this is that the mornings continue to get darker till around New Year's Eve.Rosa_Damascena said:

I'll be glad when December's over and done with though6 -
I have my washing machine run planned for early hours Wednesday morning as that looks the best day with Thursday as a back up drying day. I have washing lines in the greenhouse and will move to the rotary dryer at the bottom of the garden later in the afternoon when the sun dips.Rosa_Damascena said:

I never anticipated as a child the happiness having nicely dried laundry would bring. Then again I never imagined myself wearing an anorak / cagoule but now I have a cupboard full

Turning colder over the next few days. The bedroom storage heater may need to go back on low at some point.4

We are in our winter cycle heating wise - 3 hrs per day (1hr morning, midday & nighttime) supplemented by multiburner in evening and leccy underblanket on bed at night (and a bed hat! )
for us that works out to approx £90 in gas charges PM in the winter which includes standing charges. Firewood is ‘free’ this year due to a lot of hard work over the last several years. Think we will go back to paying for firewood next year as it’s too labour intensive.

I think I may be getting old, and feeling the cold more. A jumper over my pyjamas, and a woolly hat, and a second hot water bottle.3
