Is your heating ON or OFF?

Mine is on at 21deg C from 07:50 to 23:30 every day.
I was on holiday for 13 days and had left my thermostat set at 15deg C.
When I got home at 13:00 last Friday the house was cold and damp and it took the rest of the day to get rid of the damp feeling.
And the heating had used 143 kWh of gas in the 13 days I was away according to my smart meter.0 -
Mainly OFF.
It's been coming on for its hour in the morning 05.30 to 06.30 everyday this week. & Has been coming on at 5pm in the evenings, but turning off at about 6pm most days as it gets to temp quickly - 20c.
I've been running the dehumidifier every other day, or for a few hours in the evenings, & that has done wonders for how warm & comfortable the house feels. If it carries on with the boiler firing up less cos the house warms up quicker, & stays warm longer, I can add an extra 30mins to the mornings & a quick daytime boost of an hour or two on weekends at lunchtime. Most importantly the clammy, cold chill I used to feel even when the heating was on & the thermostat said 20c is no more!
Today I left the dehumidifier on whilst I went to work, set to a target of 55% humidity (about 50% on both upstairs and downstairs hygrometers), at the bottom of the hallway stairs & it was practically full to 2.5ltrs when I got home 9 hours later. My house is an old solid brick wall terrace that "absorbs" the rain so it felt nice coming home to a not humid, clammy house.0 -

My husband had cancer a few years ago and I didn't realise there was a lot of support that I didn't access at the time.xxx
Thank you will look into it0 -
It seems quite high usage, 21c for 15 hours a day.
We are both over 73 years old.
Last year we used 13500 kWh of gas for heating and hot water and cooking.
In the summer when the heating is off we use about 11 kWh of gas a day so the heating portion is about 9500 kWh of gas a year.0 -
It is full on this morning after a cold start. I managed to callibrate all the zone thermostats, so they read the correct tempertures in the house zones, no more hit and miss and I made notes
. So my male neighbours are floundering with theirs, the stats are hard to fathom but I can work them 100% now. I`ll let them know that I am willing to show them, just the hall thermostat. I wonder if they will ask me? male pride!!

Has been on for the weekend. I've also added an extra 30mins to the morning timer so it's on for 1.5 hours each day now. A small luxury I feel I can afford as the house heats up a lot quicker & stays warmer after getting the relative humidity down to a normal level throughout the house, so the boiler is actually on less in the evening.0

Turned mine down to 19 degrees now (think I had a cold the other week) but left it running all night as I brought so much water into the flat after getting soaked to the skin on Friday. It has switched off this morning due the sun streaming in through the bay window.0

Def getting chillier now but Im trying to hold out until November. No heating but I did have to shut the back door today as it was too parky in the house.
Im relying on double jumpers, wooly sock and ugg boots at the moment. I dont have central heating so hopefully it wont get too cold this year (too cold and my fridgefreezer keeps turning itself off!).0 -
I have built too much credit up with octopus, I only joined them 5 months ago so I e mailed them 2 hours ago and my dd is being reduced by £30 a month plus I am getting a refund. I am very impressed and happy. Just in time for christmas0
