Happy Autumn everyone! It's a bit nippy this morning, will definitely need gloves in the cycle to work. Still holding off from putting the heating on for now.0

My heating is off. I have started drawing the curtains in the evening though. Still sleeping under just the duvet cover.0

Heating still off since early May. Only used about £6 of gas since then too (Ebico no standing charge). :beer:0

Having been thrifty for more years than I care to admit, I'm very proud to say that our heating is ON early morning and all evening....and because we have cut our cloth accordingly, we can now afford to do so, thank goodness!
Unless we have a sudden heatwave, that's how it will stay until late spring next year.....0 -
My heating is now on for the winter: 1 hour in the morning and 4 hours in the evening - weekdays. Not sure about weekends yet. I'll see how it works this weekend and go through my winter clothing to see if last year's stuff will last for another winter. Definitely need new slippers and pjs.The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Needed the heating on for a couple of hours yesterday evening but had put it down to having a cold. Socks, vest and heavy winter cardigan here and hoping that the heating can stay off for a few weeks longer.0

My heating isn't on yet simply because it hasn't been cold. It will be duly switched on when it gets cold. Nothing to do with the cost or how long I can go.0 -
Had not considered that people would have their heating on in September, until a friend told me hers had been on for the last week! So, I thought I ought to check out this thread to see what the consensus was among Old Stylers.
I always aim to get to November 1st before putting it on. Don't always achieve that, but It's a good target to aim for.
Meanwhile, it's cardigans, bed socks, draught excluders etc! And I can get out my blanket that I'm knitting - put it away in the spring when the weather got too warm to have it draped over my lap.
Once it's finished of course I'll be using it while I watch TV etc!Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
