The octosyllabic October NSD challenge
Comments
-
As always, thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts.
Everything went as well as could be expected on Thursday and the service was lovely.
Haven't really done much in the last few days but still only managed 2 NSDs. That now brings it up to 4 NSDs for October. Pitiful! 21 days to go and another 14 to get.
I haven't read any posts since Friday so I hope everyone is well.
Will be around more often now, well, until I start my new job that is!
I've been offered a full time job to replace my Mum when she retires. She does admin in an IFAs office. I worked for a big insurance group based in Norwich (can you guess who it is yet?) for 13 years before raising my family so this job will be right up my street. It's 37.5 hours though, I haven't done that for over 7 years!
Thinking about it though it's only an extra 12 hours a week for nearly four times the money! Hope the sacrifice of not being with the kids during holidays for more money will be worth it.
Will be sad to leave my current job at the children's centre. I really enjoy it there........but I must think what's best for my family now, especially as DH is now no longer working after what has just happened. Who knows.........maybe I'll be joining the MFWs!
This thread is getting very popular isn't it? Loads of new people joining in the madness.Life is knowing which bridges to burn and which bridges to build!

Have a good evening if you manage to get out. xbutdoineedit - hope you're feeling better soon...spoon's right, best to get back to work and face your "demons"...brooding over things just makes them seem sooo much bigger!!...I should know, the world's worst procrastinator
Well it looks like the demons will be hanging around a bit longer as i spoke to my friend from work earlier & he says nobody will be moving jobs for a few weeks yet as they're waiting on security checks & stuff, so looks like i will just have to wait & hope (& maybe win the lottery in the meantime :rotfl::rotfl:)
That's not necessarily a bad thing to be honest as i'm not sure whether i'll make it back to work on Tuesday as i feel awful today. I'm putting it down to the fact that i went out last night, but i only drank pop & was quite relaxed just sat chatting in the pub, so not sure how i'd cope with a full day at work on my feet. Will head back to bed in a mo (where i've been pretty much all day!!) & see how i go tomorrow (i can't help wondering if it's psychological mind you, it'll be that procrastinator in me!!!!)
Keiss, ((((hugs)))) hope you are feeling better soon
Kathy, sounds like you are working really hard at the moment, please remember to take care of you too!
Oh yes, the upside of being in bed all day is number 5 please Spoon :j
& next week i promise not to moan so much!! :eek:February NSD challenge 5/150 -
(((((hugs LFV)))))) your DH is lucky to have you!
& huge congratulations on the new job :T :TFebruary NSD challenge 5/150 -
LFV : glad to hear all well as well as it could on Thursday
And fab news on the job :T
Had a good time at the fundraiser this weekend. Left just before 6:30 this morning to feed the dog (and let him out) having decided it wasn't worth then heading back just for another couple of hours - especially as there were only about another dozen people left and I wasn't especially interested in the only class left to run. I was one of only two people not too catch any shut-eye during the event and felt fine as I was loading up my car for the return trip - but then found myself struggling with the 10 mile drive home, so was pleased I'd made the decision not to go back.
Got home at 6:40, dealt with the dog, fell into bed at 6:50, and (apart from a rude awakening by my normal alarm at 7am, which was very quickly silenced) slept until 1pm !!! I'm heading back to bed in the next 30-40 mins, but plan to leave my 5:30 alarm set despite not needing to be up for work - if I can get up then I will (as I need to be back in sync for that time on Tuesday), but will also be setting back-up alarms for 6:30 and 7am
Have had another afternoon of 'nothing much', apart from taking the dog out. That was interesting in itself, as I've decided to restart the C25K (Couch to 5k) running program for his benefit - doing this on my 'rest' days as recovery runs, or on my run days as interval training (today being a rest/recovery day).
I was talking to a lady at the event (who I've never met before) who runs with one of her dogs, and it turned out she not only has a dalmatian of the same age as mine (though hers is female) but that hers is the same 'rare' colour as mine (liver spotted, which is a genetic throw-back thing). She asked where mine had come from as she thought they may actually be from the same litter, but mine was bred in Cumbria and hers is from Birminham - so without comparing kennel club papers there's no connection between them that we know of. She takes hers on a 5 mile run, only to have the dog look at her as if to say 'is that it!', whereas mine won't even get going properlyI know this will partly be 'cos she's run hers since it was pup, but she can't see any reason I can't get mine running if I work on it properly/carefully
Not been anywhere near the shops today, so declaring NSD #7Cheryl0 -
well i'm declaring today a NSD, as we didn't got to the booty, instead we went to the park for a couple of hours, then came home.It was too darn cold for anything else.
So i think its NSD number 5 for me.
Roll on tomorrow, think i have to pat council taxand ntl bill .
Not good, but ah well.
Hope you all had a good day!0 -
I was going to wait for the new month in November but then I thought "no time like the present" so I'm going to attempt 10 NSDs for what's left in October!
Wish me luck (I'm new to this!!)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Welcome and welcome to the madness that is the NSD thread - Spoon (solventsoon) will be along presently to give you the official welcome and add you to the list, so just wishing you good luck. Make sure you pop in to update each day if you can, as you will find it inspirational and a great laugh too
LFV - glad the funeral went off OK and so pleased for you with your new job :j :j :j :j
OK, so van is still off the road, Mr 3Dogs got a lift to and from the car boot, and I have not been out of the house except to walk the doggies, so I've not sent a penny .... or a pound!! Mr 3Dogs did get myfruit and potatoes at the car boot, but our friend who runs the stall was busy and just said 'pay me on Friday' so I won't count that until I actually pay her on Friday which is a normal spend day anyway :j So I can report NSD NUMBER 7 as safely negotiated :j
And a mate gave Mr 3Dogs a telephone number of someone who may be able to sell him a starter motor for the van, so he will be ringing the guy up first thing in the morning :jMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

:jHi lovely NSD gang :A
Busy day on here today, lots of posts and lots of NSDs being reported,:j and we have another newbie joining our ranks, please make cashbackqueen welcome:j
A very warm welcome to all our newbies signing up this month, new people are always welcome to join, we’re a a very friendly, if slightly insane, bunch and a surreal sense of humour definitely helps. We are, however, very serious in our aim to cut down on our spending and are happy to give advice/tips/hints so please ask if you’re not sure about anything. Everyone seems to have more success if they post regularly on here and join in the chat - not sure why, but it seems to work, so please feel free to join in:D
