I'm hoping for my 1st today *crosses fingers*!! I have brought my lunch with me and am planning a trip to the gym after work and then curl up in front of the tv!!!
JINTYB - Could you PM/point me in direction of the recipe for blackberry and apple cake?? It sounds amazing!!!! Thank youJust keep swimming0 -
Decided to just get up and get on, so I've made Kerri's apple & blackberry cake - it's currently cooling on the rack and looks and smells divine. Thanks again for the recipe.:A How's the jam today? I've not made chili jam before, but when you make regular jam you test for a "set" before putting in the jars. You put a saucer in the fridge till it's really cold, then when you think your jam is ready drop a little on the cold saucer. If it forms a skin and you can push it slightly with your finger then its ready to pot. I dont know if this applies to chili jam or not, so I might be talking out of my you-know-what. Have a look on Delia online re preserves - she's my guru when it comes to cooking questions!;)
Have a lovely day everyone!:)
Thanks for the tip Jinty - I didn't know about testing for a 'set' hmmm... I wonder if it's now been jarred up too warmit seems to have thickened a bit this morning - annoyingly it only made 5 jars and I have a list of 5 people I was going to give it to so I don't really have one spare to test - I reckon it would prob be firm enough if chilled first. As Nargle suggested - I think I might just blag it :rotfl: Tempted to make some more, but then I'll have more than I need and I'm trying to stick to a budget for xmas presents.
Hope the apple and blackberry cake is nice - we still have a few pieces left but don't think they will last longFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Morning all,
Reporting NSD no2 yesterday
Had a lovely relaxing weekend visiting family and sorting out the house. My day of baking didn't happen, as all my baking stuff was still at the other house, and by the time I'd actually got home after visiting, it was a bit too late lol. Also, I seem to be having a hard time finding sillicon loaf tins from anywhere. I've seen them in Tesco, but they're about £7 each and I don't want to be paying that much. I got my others from Home Bargains for £1.99 each, but they seem to have sold out now. I tried in PoundStretcher and Aldi too, but no luck either. Anyone got any ideas where else I can try?::: Total Paid Since LBM (27/05/10): £4639.85 Official Debt Gone!! :T ::::AThat money talks, I don't deny, I heard it once, it said "Goodbye"~ VSP2011: #104 ~

Good Grief Jinty--I wish I had a quarter of your energy
The medics keep telling me I'm "depressed" & I must have gone through every pill known to 800ts to satisfy their (mis)diagnosis but I'm still as deplete of stamina as I ever was, if not more so
Did actually say a couple of visits back that if anti-depressants are not helping then perhaps it's something else, & the quack said "self-diagnosis via the internet is the curse of modern technology!"; didn't exactly answer my question but he was obviously not interested in my symptoms at all, so I let it lie. I'm just glad I've got you lot to keep me insane :rotfl:
Me muvva has just phoned & we're going out this afternoon so I'll order that dvd as soon as I've finished here :j It's a chap that cracks us up when he's on Mock The Week so fingers X it will be good. It would make a 'thingummy' present but I don't think I can last that long so I'll have to give it to The Offspring early; that'll save on the wrapping paper tho..bonus!
I saw someone mention the new series of Bones--could you let me know when it starts please? I've tried looking on-line but couldn't see a date..but I'm in heaven with House & NCIS:LA starting this week & can't wait for the ghee-oorrrr-juss Mark Harmon in NCIS, The Mentalist, CSI & CSI:NY to begin. I don't get on with that twit Horatio in the Miami version--he's always fiddling with his sunnies & it drives me nuts
Back on topic I guess, or the mods will be chasing our tailsNo 3 is sssssafe *said baseball umpire stylee as I slid under the threat of dvd temptation*

Diana - it was actually KerriGT's recipe, she posted it a couple of days ago on this thread, if you search the thread you'll get it, sorry I'm carp at posting links:o
Anyhoo - the cake is absolutely delish - Kerri's recipe says it will keep for three days in an airtight tin - fat chance in our house - I've already had FOUR bits:o:rotfl:Good Grief Jinty--I wish I had a quarter of your energyThe medics keep telling me I'm "depressed" & I must have gone through every pill known to 800ts to satisfy their (mis)diagnosis but I'm still as deplete of stamina as I ever was, if not more so

Did you mention your shennanigans on our outings? Maybe that's the reason you've nae energy? Were you afraid he would tell you to stop chasing young fit men?:rotfl:

bmf - I dont always have this amount of energy, it's just that I'm a lark rather than an owl - I crash and burn @ 4pm:rotfl:

Re Freethought day, I was thinking along the lines of a trip to NYC, Central Park, where all the "nutters" stand and shout at the world and spout all their innermost thoughts. Thought that would suit us nicely, we can have some drinkypoos and a picnic and have a rant.
Anyone up for a trip to New York on the 12th? Transport provided - the Tardis can accommodate all of us:D:D:DThe time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time
