HELP! I've jar'ed up my chilli 'jam' (made 5 jars of various sizes) but it still seems rather runny - like a sweet chilli dipping sauce. The jam is still quite hot/warm - do any of you thrifty jam and chutney maker know whether it will set more?? I don't want to give people runny chilli gloop for xmas
:( am feeling v.discouraged atm - esp as the house also now smells like a cross between the local chinese take away and my OH sweaty socks
:(

Just brazen it out, kerri - if anyone comments on the runny texture just say it's meant to be that way! In fact, you could decant it into an empty soy sauce/chilli sauce type bottle and stick your own fancy label on it - kerri's red hot chilli sauce - burns your a$$ off! That plus a collection of different types of chilli pepper, jalapenos, scotch bonnets etc - instant chilli hamper as a present for the bloke who has everything.
I made some strawberry jam in the microwave recently, but cooked it a bit too long. It is so stiff you need a knife and fork to eat it. I just take the lid off the jar and give it about 10-20 seconds in the microwave to get it spreadable again.
I think the next NSD on the horizon for me will be Thursday, as have direct debits and known items of expenditure coming up over the next 3 days. Still quite chuffed I've got two done already though. One life - your life - live it!0 -
Evening All,
Sorry - no suggestions for the jam. I've never tried to make jam although it is one of those things I want to do!
I didn't manage to post my total for September 5/8 which wasn't great and must try harder.
I will aim for 8 again this month as I really do need to manage my spending. I have already had 1 NSD so far - only 7 to go!

My first NSD today, I feel like it's worth two since it's a weekend! But no, just 1/16 so far, not a bad startYou're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0

Hello all
Still no NSDs in Hoobyland as I filled the car with diesel today in the spirit of "Do it now" (think I might have been reading too many self -help books recently). Also bought a round rug for my parents online, but my dad gave me the money straight away (and I had somewhat cheekily gone through quidco for 10% cashback) so that wouldn't really count anyway.
Should be my first official NSD tomorrow as I will be at work and I don't take money with me and I have leftovers to take for lunch.

Best wishes everyone

I've spent today in my pyjamas and wrapped in my slanket feeling very rubbishy and lethargic. So today is NSD numero 1

Sooooo glad I wasn't drinking a brew when I read this
Treated myself to some new (and properly fitted) non-sports top wear at the end of March, and that was a 38D - the largest I ever recall needing. Certainly wasn't expecting to be struggling to find tiny sizes before the year was out (or, indeed, at any point in the future)Cheryl0 -
Hi Spoon and fellow NSDers
