  • Happy Birthday Dopey!! :bdaycake:

Thanks for your kind words last night Spoon, you really are a start for all the support you give us on here :A

Well i picked up the paint today & made slow inroads into sorting out the front room, although i have to admit to having far more sit down's than normal, unfortunately i also succumbed to the lure of a double rollover & bought a lottery ticket, not that it did me much good!!!

Well, despite not getting any shoes, today was a definite spend day for me......

Started off (after dragging the dog out on a slow 2 mile jog) by wandering around the local shops.

A!di provided me with lettuce and cucumber (both from money put aside last week), plus a box of washing tablets (have loads of powder in somewhere, but haven't been able to find it during a few quick scoot arounds this week :o)

Then to Mr M for milk and bananas (again from last weeks money). Being staff paid off again though, as all the bananas that were out were softer and browner than the last couple I have at home (which came from there!)..... so I pootled over to the entrance to the top warehouse and managed to catch the chap looking after that section, who duly dug me out some nicer ones that had come in much more recently ;)

Then over to B'n'M to see if they had anything of interest as it was already a spend day (thanks to the washing tablets). Picked up a pack of 6x70g tins of tomato puree (79p I think, not processed receipts yet), one of which I've used on the HM pizza I've had as a (very) late tea

And lastly to the local green-grocer for some satsumas - punnet of 12 for £1 seemed reasonable, and they looked nice (had 2 at lunch time, and happy enough with them even if they don't peel quite as easily as I expect of a satsuma)

Then came home for lunch while the traffic through town calmed down - was almost stationary in the direction I wanted to head out in as I walked back.

So after lunch it was up to the complex with Cl@rks and Mr A.

First stop Cl@rks, and as already reported I came away empty handed.

I then nipped into two sports shops and came away empty handed.

Third sports shop turned up some more (affordable) long running trousers (which will also be worn under my uniform, as it's getting very cold in the bakery thanks to them pumping air from outside over us all day!) and long sleeved running tops, plus a lightweight waterproof jacket, a new (2 sizes smaller) swimming costume, and a 'crop top' type undergarment (didn't appreciate hooks digging into my back during the last few bits of the yoga class I went to on Monday that were done lying down!)

Then over to Mr A to try and find work trousers (and also to try and get the smaller sized other undergarments I've still not been able to locate in the size I need and at a reasonable price).

They had 2 pairs of the trousers in the size I wanted on the rail, so I trotted off to try them on. Definitely a touch 'snug' at the moment (tried over running trousers), but I can move, bend and breathe in them - so I decided it was worth getting while I can. Asked at the desk if they had anymore, but when she came back with the only other pair they have it was for us to discover the new deliveries have been increased in price by 20% (from £5 to £6). Told her I'd leave them as I was going to have to try other stores for more anyway, so the worst that would happen would be having to pay the higher price elsewhere ;) I found the 'other' undergarments too (again the price has shot up, but still better than I've seen elsewhere!), and also managed to get some more appropriately sized upper underwear for when out running - so another item on my 'must get soon' list has now been crossed off :)

A wander around the store (dangerous) saw me also pick up half a dozen ceramic dishes (finally found some the shape and size I want for individual cottage pie/lasagne etc., and at £1.70 each I thought that was reasonable). No lids to them though, but they sell some Sm@rtprice freezer containers I may go back for as they're slightly larger than the ceramic dishes. I'm going to try making up a meal in the dishes with a (section from a cheap) silicon cake tin liner underneath, and then see if I can lift out of the dish and peel the liner off the meals once they're frozen. If so I need a job lot of the freezer containers as I can make 6 portions of one meal and transfer into the lidded containers, which frees the ceramic dishes up for the next batch cook (though I must make sure I always have one available to defrost/cook a meal in) :D Also picked up some chocolates for any trick or treaters who call round (fun size M@rs, Tw!x and M!lky Bar Stars - £2.02 each pack, or 3 for £3) and some dessicated (unsweetened) coconut, some dried cranberries, and a bag of Sm@rtprice pears. (Have a funny feeling there may have been something else, but can't recall what without unpacking the shopping or checking the receipts! May not be though, as I did pick up several items I then changed my mind about and put back before heading to the tills)

Took a detour on the way home, and visited the other local Mr A to check for trousers - given the price increase I figured I needed to be checking ASAP. Several pairs of the right size on the rack, but the first I picked up were £6 :( As I went to move away I decided it was worth checking the others, and the next 3 pairs I came across were all labelled at £5 - result :T

Then had to call back into Mr M. Tomorrow is the 30th b'day of a friend of DD, and as friend lives down here DD had asked me to pick up and deliver some bits for her - and sent the money down for it as well (via another friend who was up visiting her yesterday). So as I was in the store I checked the chilled Whoopsies, and came away with 1pt of skimmed milk for 15p. Whilst I'll happily/easily use the milk it was the container I especially wanted, as this means I'm now up to 2 that size for filling and putting in the freezer (when I've freed space up for them) rolleyes.gif

  • Number 8 for me today :)
  • another 2 nsd takes me up to 14 now friday and saturday were both nsd and friday was another unexpected one as the weather was lousy i just stayed put and managed with what we had in kids not too pleased but i think they will get used to it eventually that's one reason why i like to keep the freezer as full as possible for the days when don't feel up to going out and for when money all gone at least they still got somat to eat even if it's not what they want like tonight my son gone to stay at girlfriends with baby and asked if we had any thing to munch on ( his word not mine) anyhow no biccy's left so asked if we had pizza i said yes and off he went to the freezer to get it along with 3 lolly's as well so funny he will eat one or two foods for about 2 weeks then stops and goes onto sumat else which reminds me we need sausages only got veggie ones and he won't touch them which means i get to have them when i feel like them need to recheck whats left in freezer as we have used it quite a bit this week .just wish i could refill it in one go instead of a bit at a time thats when i forget what we've got and whats left even with my list must sort it before xmas as don't want to have an empty freezer not good and i don't want it full of the wrong stuff ? I used to bulk buy for freezer, cupboards, non food stuff on a rota once a month and just get bread milk and spuds and chilled weekly but i don't seem to be able to do it atm not sure why might try it again next year as i would need to save up at least £30 as a float to start me off like before but it was more like £50 in those days i'm ok for toiletries til at least january for most things might need shampoo/ conditioner T rolls and K rolls thats about it everything else done i don't think i'll need any cleaning stuff and if i do run out or low i can always use my steamer. wish i was doing as good with the g/challenge then i could save up float quicker mmmm need to think about that not too much though don' want another bad head day got too much to catch up on as it is not sure if sunday will be a nsd best wait till later?

edited to say sorry for long post didn't realise i'd typed so much

Just curious; what is your shoe size?

I'm a 4, 4.5, 5 sort of size nicca, I think you are bigger than that from a previous boot conversation?!

And whilst mentioning shoes - Cheryl - not totally sure if this is worth mentioning but I saw a couple of pairs of MBTs at a local tk max a week ago, I think they were around £45 or so. So if you are anywhere near one over the next few days might be worth a quick check as I know they sometimes have a few of things delivered to several stores. Though I expect they'll be snapped up quick.

Not a NSD for me yesterday, haircut and bought some new work boots from the cl@rks at the local outlet village (previous ones have a hole I only noticed in the rain last week), oh no just realised thats more shoe talk.
I did manage to resist buying a new work suit also at the outlet village by convincing myself I'm planning on losing half a stone 'soon' and so don't want to buy one that will be too big then.

I will get my last NSD to take me to target soon.........hopefully.:)

Thanks, but means a special trip (and either bus fare or petrol and parking) for me to get to a store. Don't mind paying to go to a town centre if I know I won't be coming home empty handed, but reluctant to shell out the best part of a fiver on an 'off-chance'.

I'm also very restricted on the style I can get, and they don't do many that fit works uniform criteria (which is why it's proving so hard to get anything from anywhere) - have to be plain black, not opened toes, not look like a trainer/sports shoe, and no suede etc decorative bits (ie. have to be able to polish them and mustn't have any 'traps' for dust/icing sugar/germs). I also think a bar type shoe/sandal would cause problems for me in the bakery, as my socks would clog up with icing sugar and flour where they were exposed ;)
