  • hi all! Can I join in please, have also just joined the grocery challenge so I think these 2 challenges will work hand in hand. I've been trying it at home and have found that DH is my downfall-if he's on a day off or a night shift then my NSD goes to pot! Must be tougher! I'll try for 18 this month please.

Aargh not a good start to the morning
Put my bin out last night for collection this morning only to wake up & find someone had decided to drag it round the back of the house & tip it all over the street :mad::mad: (they'd even opened all of the bags & tipped them out too!!)
So first job of the day was to pick up all my grotty old rubbish & put it back in the bin

However the bin men were absolute :A & waited for me to do it (they came part way through) & even said thank you :T

Oh well at least it got me off my bum, so now i'm going to crack on with fixing the cupboard doors on in the kitchen & it's not raining so i can hang the washing out too :D

  • Morning all,

Well not off to the best start for a NSD October! Yesterday had to buy airfreshner refills but did get the money back from my OH and today I have to buy cat food as they have nothing left. Oh well should be a NSD for me on Sunday!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

We're a very chatty lot on here, elf06, you'll find that out but, as Cheryl says, just wait for one of our outings:D:D

Morning everyone and welcome to all the newbies (and GC challenge refugees:D:D) joining up - good to have you on board.

Will be back later to add everyone to the front page but, for now, have a lovely Saturday everyone:j:j:j

A good start to the month, yesterday was a NSD so 1/12 so far. No chance today though, have a meal/drinks to go to later but tomorrow's looking good as I'll be too hungover to go out:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Ooooppppsss...... I knew I'd forgotten something on the front page:o:o:o.... my excuse is that it was late and I was tired:o:o:o. That's a definite, Nargle, pumpkins and all, I'll add it to the list.

Re the prizes - nothing edible:D:D

How about Halloween themed prizes this month, then you could have a pumpkin which would solve the issue of (ahem :o) some of us having a tendancy to eat our prizes :rotfl:
Hello! I was overly amibitious in Sept, as I had a lot on so only managed 6/10 :o In October I will resolve to have 10 NSDs (I find it shocking that in 30 days I only managed not to spend money on 6 days....)

There is no such thing as ONLY for the NSD challenge :), 6 is nothing to be sniffed at so well done, and fingers crossed for this month x

Kerri - any chance of the recipe for the apple & blackberry cake? That sounds yummy!

Of course (esp as you shared your chutney one with me) here is it; (perhaps we should start a NSD recipie thread :rotfl:

    100g softened butter
    175g self raising flour
    1 tsp baking powder
    175g golden caster sugar
    2 eggs
1 lemon rind (I also like a little squeeze of the juice in the mix)
1 Cox's apple - diced (or any other apple seems to work fine)
    150g blackberries
    • Preheat oven to Gas 5/190c, and line a shallow (20cm ish) tin with baking parchment (greaseproof paper)
    • Mix all the ingredients except the apple and blackberries, in a large bowl with a wooden spoon until smooth
    • Stir in the apple and blackberries and spread into the tin.
    • Bake for 30 - 35mins until golden and the centre is firm to touch
    • Leave in the tin for 10mins before turning out and allowing to cool completely.
    • Cut into squares - makes about 12. Keeps for about 3 days.
It makes quite a moist style cake with the blackberries but its super moreish. :) Let me know what you think x

BDINI - sorry you've had a rubbish (oh gosh, no pun intended :o) start to the day - hope it gets better.

BDINI - thats a horrible thing to do, bless you for cleaning it all up though. Hope the rest of your weekend goes better.

Definately a spend day for me today, DH away golfing (good job cos I'm on the verge of murdering him at the minute!) so got the girls coming round for tea. Still a MSE night though, once we would have gone out and spent a fortune but it should only cost me a bottle of wine tonight.

I don't know how you keep up with this thread Spoon, thanks so much for all your hard work! :) xx
