Can i be mortgage free by christmas 2011

Hi everyone,

Please can I play on these boards.

As the title says I'd like to be mortgage free by christmas 2011 if possible.

A little bit of background info.I joined the site 4 years ago with a very large debt and became debtfree on the 6th july this year.

I have decided to put money in savings to clear my mortgage as I have a Abbey tracker offset mortgage that tracks at 0.49% above BOE rate for life.

The savings in the ISAs are getting 3% and the savings in the other accounts 2.6%.

I joined the MFIT-T2 and thought I would need to drop out due to being diagnosed with cancer in May this year..at the moment I'm going through chemo followed by rads so am not working.

Poor DH is working as many hours as possible and we are being as frugal as possible

willpost again in a minute as don't want to lose post x

I managed to get a payout from my critical illness in july which allowed me to clea rmy debt and put £15k in savings.

As of today the figures are

    MORTGAGE OUTSTANDING.....£45079.94
    SAVINGS............................£21071.00
    NEEDED (DIFFERENCE).........£24008.94

I'd really like to clear this by next christmas but this is a big challenge with me off work...it will be finished by the MFIT-T2 challenge though...so here's hoping .

    All the best Taxi xxx

Morning everyone...hope you are all well,

I love the 1st of the month as the normal mortgage payment comes out.So with that and the savings just another £23531.72 to go.

I need to carry on being as frugal as possible and to put every penny spare away.

Hope you're all having a good day x

I will be interested to see how you progress. To be honest, i find it completely weird that you are still so focussed when you could be excused for being distracted while you are having treatment. If it were me i could be tempted to treat myself a bit more. I suppose the debt background is what spurs you on. :o

I wish you the best of luck with your challenge and your health. :D You are a brave lady.

Thanks Michelle...what spurs me on is that if anything happens to me I don't want my poor husband left with the mortgage. If I stay alive(which I hope for) then being fugal for another 12/14 months and get the mortgage paid off then I can have loads of fun and not have to work either.

You are doing great as well with your mortgage.I've read your diary up until the play equipment and school uniforms so far
