Which TV Transmitter?

For the OP, just a few thoughts.
Firstly, check the MUX column on this list www.radioandtelly.co.uk/freeviewchannels.html if you cannot get ITV3 then you shouldn't get things like QVC and Channnel 1 as they are on the same MUX. The same applies to your friend, if she cannot get Channel 5 she wouldn't get ITV1 or CH4 either.
When was the last time either of you carried out a rescan? Your first post mentions that you lost channels a while back, so perhaps that was when there was a retune. On the big retune in September 2009 Channel 5 "swapped" MUX with an ITV channel (I can't remember which), which may explain your's and your neighbour's situation.
Have a check through the full channel list on your box and make sure that the box hasn't saved some channels with programme numbers of 800 and higher - some boxes do this if they are getting signals from more than one transmitter.
A quick disclaimer is that if you do have a problem with the aerial, the retune may lose the channels until you get the aerial fixed.
Right - checked against the first link, and I've lost all the programmes against "A" - although I do get them for short periods now and again. When I can't get them and receive the message "scrambled or not available" the signal is still showing at full strength, so I don't know what's going on.
I did rescan a couple of times after last September (although I doubt very much that my friend did). The thing is that ITV3 does reappear now and again but it's only in the last few weeks that it's hardly ever available.
The highest number channel I have is 801.
All my Radio stations in the 700s have disappeared (I'm sure they were there at one time, although I never used them).
Somebody asked earlier about my aerial's orientation - it's horizontal.
I'd happily swap Russia Today for ITV3!0 -
Whatever you have on 801 almost certainly shouldn't be there. When I did the recscan on one of our receivers it dumped several channels in the 800s and I had to do a "factory reset" and then another rescan to correct things. There are a few boxes that couldn't handle things after the retune, but I doubt yours is one of them.
Assuming you are receiving Crystal Palace, the problem MUX is in the middle of the channel allocation and logically I would doubt a problem with the actual aerial. Damaged cable is a possibiliy from experience but I'd have expected other channels to suffer as well. The radio channels are on more than one MUX, so you may have lost other TV channels as well. If this was a few months ago I'd suggest leaves on nearby trees if the aerial was pointing towards any.
The only remaining option I can think of is interference around the frequency of the MUX. Wish I could help but I think I am stumped.0 -
I am on the Crystal Palace Transmitter, (I live in St Paul's Cray, Orpington) although I am unable to receive many Digital TV Channels. So I am using Analog (Just my Ariel on the roof plugged into the back of my TV)
When I plug my Ariel on the roof into a Digital Set Top Box (Freeveiw) and link it to my TV The following Channels are what I can get: BBC1, BB2, BBC3, BBC4, ITV 3, ITV 4, 5 USA, Film 4, & BBC News.
For some reason I cant get ITV 1, Channel 4, or Channel 5!! (but i can get these on analog) AND SOMETIMES I CAN'T EVEN GET THE CHANNELS mentioned above (P;2),
This is said that no matter what I do I will never ever been able to get the full range of Freeveiw channels or the signal quality in order to watch them.
ALL I WANT IS THE FULL FREEVEIW SERVICE HOW ON EARTH CAN I GET IT? I'VE BEEN TRYING FOR 2 YEARS!!!0 -
Not long to wait now tazbedo (18 April 2012) until the power is turned up TEN FOLD.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
