funnily enough I am having a bit of a tidy (it should be a lot of a tidy) and just found my first issue of Simply Handmade that was published January 2010 - it was about 8" square then. Can't remember seeing an issue 2 though.0 -
Sorry not had time to read back properly but I have a question about colouring.
I'm not very good at it and could use some advice. I use Copics and have difficulty with pale colours in that I can't get them to look 'pale'. Is it that they don't 'do' pale colours and I need to invest in pale promarkers? OR could it be that I'm too heavy handed, the copics have a softer nib that promarkers and it may be I'm flooding the paper with too much ink? The chisel end seems a bit big for most of what I colour.
I'd be grateful for any help & suggestions. Off now to visit MIL

RustyFlange wrote: »Same to you!! How are you feeling?? hope you are ok? looked on the net and wiki says ... Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs
and if you search quilling you can see lots of pretty shapes on google images, think I will stick to flowers though :rotfl:
Still in pain with my knee - but nowhere near as much as you must be in. Hope the morphine is doing it's job xx
Ah, i've only seen the rolled quilling before which is why I was confused (easily done I know :rotfl:)
Marg - sorry I can't help, my colouring is carp0 -
Well I still haven't packed my bag yet!!! First I've got to find a bag that'll fit everything in it!!!! Managed to get a bit done on a card that I'm making - its one of those with the boxes inside a la Rainmac although its taking me ages, plus I don't think I've got an acetate!
Rusty - ta for the tip - I would never have thought of just cutting the fancy bits off!!!
Marg - That's great news that your eyes are making progress!!!! Sorry I can't help with the copics - I'm still using promarkers!
Mad-frog - glad to hear that you had a good time and that the weather was nice!
Lizalloareds - can't believe you walked 9 miles - I am very impressed!!! I don't think that I could manage it!
Artydoll - thank goodness you're mobile again now - the car looks fab! Your Tilda card is lovely, I love how you've created the background.
Nannyboo - sorry I can't help you - have you tried looking on splitcoaster stamps - there's loads of tutorials on there!0 -

there are quite a lot of useful colouring tutorial on Youtube and a lot of them use copics rather than promarkers. One of the bl*gs I follow uses copics and does colouring tutorials as well - i will try and find it and post you th link0 -
Rusty Good to see you posting, I hope the morphine is keeping the pain under control without spacing you out too much.
Marg I don't have any Copics, only Promarkers, and am not an expert but I do tend to only very lightly touch the paper/card with the PM when I am colouring, mainly to see if it will bleed then I can be careful with the edges. You can always go back over it if there's not enough colour. I've also got the Blender pen which can take some colour off.
Oooh, Melissa, you'd better get that back packed quick :rotfl: .
Soma Big congrats on your DT position :T.
Welcome Newbies, I'm a bit behind as usual and have seen new names, you will love it here.
Does anyone know where I can get these Dovecraft Pearl gems in all the different colours. They only have the pink in The Factory Shop and I want some other colours but don't want to pay much in postage (free p+p would be better).
I've put a couple of cards in the usual place - not done that for a while :rotfl: . Sorry I'm not getting around to people's blogs at the moment, can someone please arrange for a few more hours in the day!0 -

I lied, I don't follow it, but I have managed to find it - the tutorials I saw were about colouring hair, but if you have a bit of an explore you might find info about skin tones.

Your cards are lovely. Funnily Do Crafts have put in their recent mag that they are bringing out tatty teddy items in the coming months so you might be able to find some!Life is like a box of chocolates..........you always seem to pick the hard ones!0 -
Oh Melissa – get that bag packed. She will be here before you know it.
Good to see you posting Rusty – hope the pain is more manageable now you are on the morphine, and the hospital sort out a long term solution to you really quickly.
Marg – glad your eyes are doing OK. Sorry the drops sting you a bit, but just think of the good they are doing, and what do they say no pain no gain – it will be worth it in the end I am sure.
Glad everyone who went to the SECC had fab days, there was certainly a lot of stash bought – enjoy crafting with it all, looking forward to seeing all your makes.
Tom’sMom – love your tatty teddy card. I need to make one for a 10 year old girl who absolutely loves tatty teddy/me to you teddy, can I ask which site you got the image from, or did you just do a search on google images? I’ve tried that but didn’t really find one I thought would be suitable. Sorry not sure about the gems, but if I see any on my travels i'll let you know.
Had a bit of a crafty weekend, and have updated my bit of the internet, with a couple of cards. Thanks for letting me use your layout for the teenage boy card Padster, hope you like what I did, and it doesn’t look too much like yours.
Rainmac – hope you had a good meal with your friends, and that they liked the little favours you made. I loved them when I saw them on your blog, that I had a go at making 4 on Friday night, for the meal I had with some girlfriends on Saturday, and they went down a treat – not to difficult to make, and I managed to get 3 twilights and 3 mini Cadbury milk squares in each one. Will blog later in the week, but just wanted to say thank you for all the amazing different things you make, and the tutorials you link to.
Really happy – just got a text off my old boss to say she has booked tickets for us to go to dinner and see Priscilla Queen of the Desert in London on the 21st. Can’t wait.
Congratulations Dragonllew on your win with such a fab card.
xxx2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000
