Making cards - Ideas (part 5)

Evening everyone, how's the day gone? I had a bit of a frustrating time with my card today (on bl*g if anyone fancies a look) - one of those times when things just won't go right.
I have the Woodware cutter - http://www.handyhippo.co.uk/s302-1-fingerguard-12-paper-trimmer.html - and had been quite satisfied with it but I think it's wearing out now as the cutter housing seems a bit wobbly along the rail so I'm often finding that I don't get a straight cut.
So my question is what do you use and would you recommend it? Was wondering about a guillotine as I seem to remember seeing the Purple Cows one on C&C a while back and thinking it looked good. I'm looking for something fairly lightweight as my hands aren't good and that was the beauty of the Woodware trimmer.
Thanks in advance.0 -
CPS my mum bought me a sliding guillotine when i first started out crafting and it was ok although huge and awkward! But it soon kept playing up and not cutting straight. I now have the xcut maxi guillontine and i love it. There is also a smaller one which come in handy. This is a lever type not sliding on rollers. hth:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boysWant to be fit for 30 not fat at 30but i want never gets!!!0

I'll take a look what i've got looby.
my son and dil arrived about an hour ago her waters broke earlier so she went to the hospital and they said to come home take a few baths and if she hasn't gone back before then she has to go back at 8 am. He'll be right on his date too and it's my son's birthday tomorrow. They don't have a bath only a shower so i think they'll be here till she has to go back again. lolCross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

Louby - I have this Purple Cow Trimmer and Guillotine, so the best of both worlds, and it does cut straight. I bought it from here too, as I had seen the guillotine only, in a local craft shop and they wanted £39.99 for it .
Congratulations on your win on here Addams. I'll get my thinking cap on about a card for my mum, as all the cards I've made lately are for boys/men.
Craftygranny - hope it isn't too long before you meet the new baby, and that everything goes will for your son and DIL.
Caught up on blogs last night, and finding freebie images on the net. I need to make a card for my best friend who will be 40 at the end of the month. Can anyone offer some advice on making a box for the card please. It will be a 5" x 5" card when finished, and when I found some instructions for pizza boxes last night they were for 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" cards - grrrrr, and I am not that good at trying to work out what size and where to score if I wanted to make a bigger one. Don't mind if I need to make a box with 2 halves but can anyone help with sizes and score positions? Thank you.
Hope everyone has a good day, off to work later, then need to make some more boys cards later.
