Hi all :j-just popped in to have a nose at what you've been doing.
jaz - I do feel for you...........I think these departments are 'programmed' to say ''No'' -at least first off. Keep on trying.
I've got a whole tome of forms to fill in to have my situation re-assessed............I got dla low rate for epilepsy some years back and that took two attempts. Ageuk are due to help me plough through this latest minefield. OH is current ''carer''...........he'd do it anyway but thats not the point is it.
Have you had a look on the 'disability & dosh' board ? There's some folk on there with a wealth of experience that might be able to help.
Wish you luck with it all xxI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Afternoon everybody - been out of most of the day, didn't want to go, not because I didn't want to be there, but didn't want to walk there in the cold and the wind and the rain. Fortunately it wasn't raining, so I can cope with the other 2.
And congrats to whoever has won whatever it is that they have won but would like to point out that none of us are losers so in my book that makes us are all winners.
And I'm really excited because i've sold 2 of my cards, and the ladies at my quilt group have asked me to take them in at the next meeting, and I've asked if I can have a table at the exhibition in September - which is going to be discussed at the next committee meeting.0 -

Evenin' all - went awol for a couple of days, so have just skim-read the last 10 pages, so hope I haven't missed too much
Wifey - good luck for your hopsital op
Jazzabelle - having been through the whole DLA application process twice with my son (19), I'm sending you loads of positive encouragement. The best advice that I can give is to try to take all emotion out of the appn process (this is from someone who cried rivers of tears on both occasions) and to treat it as if you were preparing from an exam. Collect evidence and cold facts that back up your appn as to why you need care. Like Rainmac said, enlist the help of people who specialise in your condition when filling in the form.
I have started a file for my son where I include examples of incidences where he needs care as they arise, I also include pictures. This is so that I can deal more on a factual rather than an emotional level.
Remember your DLA is for your care requirements and you are entitled to it whether or not you are in work. If your Mum cares for you for more than 35 hours a week she may be entitled to carer's allowance as long as you are awarded middle rate care.
Fingers crossed that you escape redundancy. My hubbies company was in trouble last April and was threatening redundancies - everyone is still hanging on by their finger nails.
All the best, Thriftyxxx0 -
Hi ladies, been MIA and trying to get back on track although not read all the back pages yet!!) - and found out won something - thanks for the heads up Padster - I have no idea what to choose though:eek: I've always liked the boy with the games consol controller that mo manning does and never got round to ordering it and wondering if she would be able to do something similar??? Or would it be cheeky to ask for something like that, when another designer does it???. Will have to get my thinking cap on.
