Morning ladies, just me up then! cant sleep, must be all the excitement of getting out of the house yesterday lol Actually the car alarm went off at 10 to 3:eek: DH got up and turned it off then got back in bed and started snoring even louder, while I lay awake wondering why it had gone off  So here I am having tea and toast :)

Good time to catch up on reading the posts and blogs x
  • Morning all!
What on earth time is that to be up Flourgirl I was awake what I thought was normal time waiting for the heating to come on laid there for ages and checked the time and it was 3:24:eek: Did manage to drop off to sleep then had trouble when the alarm went off as I thought I had to get DD to school for 8 but they rang 1/2 hour ago to say it was cancelled - could have had a lay in as OH didn't come home last night he stayed over as he was so tired from battling through the weather conditions all week :)

Made a couple of cards last night will try and catch up with my blog later and post some stuff - have checked the weather forecast and should get above freezing today :j:j

    Hugs to everyone xx

Liz massive hugs to you, how horrible for your OH and his workmates at this time of year, I think you should definitely make cards and not clean the house to help ease your pain, thinking of you.. what a shame you are so far away from me, I would have tried to get OH to help your OH get some work x

Sorry to take the thread off topic but has anyone opened a savings account for children, grandchildren etc, we want to open a savings account for granddaughter but I am struggling to find one on line for children, or should I just open one in her name? the idea is that's her Christmas present and OH will add to it monthly until she is 21 or to fund her for University etc.

Madfrog (sorry to butt in, I've turner into a lurker lately) - would it be better to add to her Child Trust Fund every month? Or would you rather save seperately?

ETA: I've just had a thought. Do they still do them? (CTF) as DD is nearly 8, it's been a while. With everything changing I'm not sure they still do them. Oops.

Mad Frog - Think you'll have to go into a branch as the set up isn't straight forward. You might be able to get Nat Savings stuff for GD as you are grandparents - we got Pre Bonds for great nephew but his parents had to sign documents but I'm sure if we'd been grandparents we could have sorted it ourselves.

Wifey - Hope you make it safely to York and have a wonderful time with GD's.

Liza - sorry things aren't getting better for DH's work - not an easy call to make at any time of the year let alone now - (((hugs)))

    DTB -

Wanna B - sorry - nothing yet. I do wonder about post, I sent 2 parcels last Thursday one to Aberdeen the other to Leeds. The Aberdeen one arrived Sat the Leeds one still not shown - doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to it. & why do they never come back to the sender if we put our addy on the back?

Addams - What a talented daughter! And what lovely instruments to choose I'd love to be musical but can't even sing in tune.

Sorry if I've missed anyone my brain's in overdrive - too much to do Hugs x
  • Morning everyone not as cold today and a little less frosty
How terrible for you Liz, def no housework
well done your to your daughter Addams
    xx
edit to say Ive just been in the garden and I take it back its freezing!
  • Morning everyone. Brrrrr it's cold this morning. I'm off shopping with a friend in a while and then am going to call into the store that I'm demonstrating in on Saturday to see if my stamps have shown up yet (it will only be the third set that are missing). If they don't show I'll be raiding the shelves and using what ever's to hand!

Liz - that's terrible right, hope you get it sorted.

Flourgirl - I was up at 4:45 and thought that was bad enough! Hopefully you've taken yourself back off to bed.

Madfrog - My parents set up govt.bonds for my kids and the return on them is (or was at the time) guaranteed to be above the current rate of interest. They have to be renewed every 5 years, but you get bounses for re-investing. My In-laws set up trust funds for the kids which can't be accessed until they are 21. Good luck with sorting it out, it's a minefield and cos everyone wants your business they'll all be telling you their option is best!

Addams - congrats to your daughter

Marg - you'll know it's from me cos it's in a bright pink plastic envelope :)

Rainmac - I take it the postie hasn't been to you either? :(

Scatty - I loved those penguins on your latest card

Sorry if I've missed anyone. Hugs to all. x
