  • Recently i followed up on Martin's advice that said the best balance transfer card was NatWest. When i wanted to transfer money from my AmEX account NatWest told me that this was not possible. I don't understand whats wrong does anybody have idea.
  • I wish to balance transfer £1000 from my Tesco Visa to another card for at least 6 months. I'd prefer a no fee transfer, but there don't seem many around and it would have to be a different company group from Tescos' Visa (RBS,I think). or they won't allow transfers. so far the best rate I've found is Capitol One (1.7%)
Any ideas anyone of a no fee transfer card with 0% interest for at least a few months?
    Thanks in advance
  • I realise i should have probably started a new thread, but having searched all over the page and site i can't find out how to start a thread!!!

Hi... I am thinking of following the advice from Martin in regards to getting a life of balance transfer card and an intermediary card to do so. Has many people done this and is it still worth doing? I took a £5000 loan out this time last year with Halifax at over 13% so it seems like a winner to me? Also Martin states in http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/plastic-loans that "you ask your life of balance card to do a £5000 balance transfer FROM Egg Money"... surely it is TO egg money?
Sorry to be pedantic, just claryfying everything before i go ahead with everything!

    Cheers

Which 0% or LOB cards are most likely to give a large credit limit (I have approx £7000 of CC debt to transfer)?

    RSPCA 20 quid through Quidco
0% for 9 months on BT's (2% transfer fee) AND the RSPCA get a not too bad 16.50 donation from the card providers themselves.........
    Gotta be worth considering.
    http://www.beneficialcard.co.uk/rspc...HEG&COUP=RS2ca (Use Quidco though!)

Or it's 35 quid for the The Egg Card, 12 months, but 3% BT fee. So you have to do your maths.....

The Quidco 20 quid cashback, for the Twatwest card - No longer it seems... It must have gone mental, with applications, because of the 2% transfer fee.
Might even have been a free 20 quid even if one didn't plan on using it at all, even for a BT!
Natwest 2% BT fee..... Instant online yes/no..... 13months 0% on BT's... This made it cheaper (on a 3K transfer) than the below cheapest BT rate....

Also LOWEST BALANCE TRANSFER RATE ABOUT? 1.7%
    Unlikely provider Capital One......
NOT to be confused with their Classic card with a typical APR of 38.8%!!!!
    but the Platinum Card....
    0% on BT's and Purchases till May 1st 08. That's what 10/11 months?
APR of 9.9 after, which ain't too bad either...

There's something odd about when the BT fee shows up as a charge, though...
    Three/four months after transfer..
Not quite sure who's favour this is in.... Consumers, surely?

You can shift a credit card balance to another credit card. Transferring a loan to a credit card is not so straightforward. Only a few rather special credit cards have this capability. For an explanation, please click on *Super BTs* in the black box at the top of this board.

Hi, this is my first post, although I've been using the website for some time, and always tart my credit cards.
However I really need some help. I've bought a house with my partner, and I want to get all our debt onto one 0% card. He has an £8000 egg loan, and I have £3000 on MBNA. We hope to be able to pay the majority of within a year. I tried to apply for a Halifax/RBS card, as have used them in the past and they always gave me a large credit limit, so I thought it would be fine, but I've since realised they won't transfer a balance from a loan.
I read some posts in the forum and understand I need a Super BT,and it says to go to the black box entitled Super BTs at the top of the page, but I can't seem to find it!
Does anyone know specifically which companies generally deal with super bts, and if any of them are likely to give me the credit limit I need?
Sorry to ask but I just can't seem to navigate my way round the site yet!
    many thanks in advance

Contacted RBS to discuss reduced rate (as recommended by Martin; RBS offer of 1.9% for 6 months to existing customers). RBS refused to reduce rate, even when I mentioned I would switch cards. Has anyone actually been given 1.9%? Is there anything I can quote to get them to give me this offer?

I asked Natwest about the teasing little note against their 2% BT fee....
We may waive this charge thing.... "Go on waive it for me then"

What they said was other than any other special reasons, long term customer with the bank etc then...

    I Paraphrase
"Any BT within 1st, 6mths would incurr the 2% charge.... A BT in month 7 and it would (prob) be waived....."

Obviously you've lost your 1st 6 months of 0% interest on the BT itself, but it kinda cleared it up for me...
I'd often wondered about that one
