I don't currently have a credit card, I'm buying a new car and need a bit of extra finance (about £2000). Could I use a CC as basically zero interest debt in paying for the car? I'm borrowing the £2k from my parents, then I'll pay them back when I get the card.0

Re RBS OFFER I can't get into their website as I have a Mac and my browser won't let me get into it. I have now been holding on the phone to them for over 45 minutes and can't get through as they keep putting me to the back of the queue. Does anyone who has a Mac have any advice as to what browser to use. I currently have Safari, and it says it is an invalid browser? Thanks.0

You need to visit www.getfirefox.com
Firefox is pretty well supported and acts almost identically on the Mac as on a Windows PC. It's also available for those Linux users out there.
The link above will take you to a page which will include a download link appropriate to the computer you're using at the time.0 -
I am nearing the end of my 0% tranfer on my Virgin Credit card. I have not paid off the whole debt yet, so should I start looking now for a new card to transfer the balance too.
I think I signed up for the alert from here when the )5 is up, but I haven't received anything yet. Is there a way I can find out if I have signed up or not?
cheers for all help

Hi,
Regarding the Ulster Bank credit card offering 0% balance transfer with no fee. Does anyone know if I can apply for this card if I live in England? There doesn't seem to be any Ulster Bank branches in England.

RSPCA 20 quid through Quidco
0% for 9 months on BT's (2% transfer fee) AND the RSPCA get a not too bad 16.50 donation from the card providers themselves.........
Gotta be worth considering.

Quidco 20 quid - Natwest 2% BT fee..... Instant online yes/no..... 13months 0% on BT's... This makes it cheaper (on a 3K transfer) than the below cheapest BT rate....
Also LOWEST BALANCE TRANSFER RATE ABOUT? 1.7%
Unlikely provider Capital One......
NOT to be confused with their Classic card with a typical APR of 38.8%!!!!
but the Platinum Card....
0% on BT's and Purchases till May 1st 08. That's what 10/11 months?
APR of 9.9 after, which ain't too bad either... Something odd about when the BT fee shows up as a charge... three/four months after transfer..
Not quite sure who's favour this is in.... Consumers, surely?

No joy with RBS. I asked in Holborn today.... They operate completely separately....... Plus I've heard of nightmare delays with Ulster Bank...... If you're running out of time.... It's time to look elsewhere....0

Not exactly a balance transfer but along similar lines. I have a Barclaycard and have had for a number of years. The standard rate has been creeping up over the last few years and had gone to 19.9%. I rang them up to complain about the rate. Didn't have to moan at all. Just asked if they could lower it. They immediately dropped it to 9.9%. I have a balance on the account so a great saving for me.0

Sam,
You can do it to buy a can but you will have to juggle a bit. Generally if you use the card to buy a car the dealer will charge you for using a card as they have to pay a good chunk as a fee to the handling agent. Also most of the good rates aren't available on purchases. Best would be with someone like egg where you can do a transfer to a current account and then use your switch card / write a cheque.0
