ramellous1 wrote:I recently asked on here is I could BT froa BO Scotland card to the Smart card which is also BOS. The answer was no, so I applied for the Ulster card. I did not realise this was also owned by BOS but they did the transfer. I also asked for the credit limit to be raised and they did albeit only by £500.
So BoS to BoS is a go!!
Ulster Bank is part of Royal Bank of Scotland. Bank of Scotland (without the Royal) is a different bank (it's part of the HBOS group).0 -

I was one of the last to get the 9 months, 0% B/T with no fee from HSBC in March 2006. However, they wanted proof of I.D. & address, pay slips & P.45 etc. I have never come across that level of investigation for a credit card application before or since. They gave me a credit limit of around £4,500 which was higher than I expected as I only asked for a B/T of around £2,250.0 -
Hi everyone - I'm a newbie here. I'm 53 and have just remortgaged to get rid of c £65K of credit cards/loans accumulated from childrens' school fees/living etc.. HSBC were able to offer a great deal, leaving me with a few thousand to clear off on my credit cards. I've just transferred £4,400 to Barclaycard on their 6.9% Life of Balance, and have cut up the card. The balances were from NatWest £3k@16.9%; Citicard £1k@28% (!!) and £400 MBNA@20.9%. I reckon that I can pay this lot off in 2 years, and save an absolute fortune in interest. It was a doddle transferring, but I have got a B/c Platinum Card and have used it freely for years. My advice to anyone in a similar position is Go For It - you'll never know how much you can save until you try!

Hope this is right thread. If not please advise.
I want to find the best Credit Card to help cashflow in a small but expanding business. Everything I have looked at seems to refer only to personal cards. Can anyone advise?

Hi All
I've been a money saver for a while but have only just started credit card tarting and hoping you could give me some guidance.
I am six weeks away from my 0% new purchase deal with a halifax one card. I have just applied and been accepted for a HSBC credit card at 0% interest on balance transfers for 12 month with a 2% fee. Ok so thats fine. When I applied via the link on this site I realised that they also have a 0% on purchases offer along with the 0% balance transfer offer.
Here's my problem, Martain does say :money: that you should only use 0% balance transfer cards for that purpose only, as spending on them can incur huge interest but with the offer mentioned above would it be ok to transfer my balance AND spend on this card as both have good introductory offers????0 -
Hi
I hope this hasn't been posted already; I genuinely think it hasn't, but need some advice, as it doesn't seem quite right...
I applied for, and was accepted an HSBC Credit Card as advertised (and still being advertised) "Our Credit Card offer gives you 0% interest on purchases for 6 months from account opening and 0% on balance transfers until 2nd April 2008".
The t's and c's came through, everything was fine, and then about 4-5 days later I received the following letter:HSBC wrote:
Dear Mr XXX
Please be advised the copy of the terms that accompany your credit card containsthe incorrect promotional period. Please disregard this promotional period, the correct information is set out below.
We would like to assure you that we are not changing your promotional rates, or any promotional period that you may be eligible for.
Interest rate per annum for balance transfers completed within 30 days of account opening
Effective Rate 0.0%
Simple Rate 0.000%
Promotional Period Until 1 January 2008
Please accept my apologies for the mistake.
Your sincerely

So basically they have gone back on their original offer and lopped 4 months off the 0% period. Please could someone advise? This seems pretty wrong. When I took it out in January, one of the reasons I was less concerned about paying 2% admin fee was because it came with 16 months. They then decided to make it 12, which makes the 2% a little less good value for money...
I find the whole thing quite misleading and it concerns me that I'm not the only person this may have happened to.
Thanks in advance

IN the last week or two I had a nice letter from Halifax - I have Platinum Visa. Offering 4.94% for Life of Balance
So, like the good little MSEer I am, have just transferred EVERYTHING off of it to the nice Co-Op people's card, ready to transfer back that AND the last of my MBNA and AMEX 6.9% LOB..3 for the price of one

Hi All
I am a relative novice to this card tarting business but was wondering if there was a defintive list of cards issued (and not issued) by MBNA. A friend of my was trying to swtich to a 0% balance but the card she applied for was issued by MBNA Europe and therefore she was not allowed to switch.
I don't want to fall into the same trap. I am currently on an MBNA Plat card.
Thanks in advance

Hi all;
My first post ever on this site as I am a complete newbie to becoming money savy.
I have recently applied for the M&S credit card (following Martins great advice) and have been accepted, just waiting for the card to arrive now.
I have just noticed that the BT rate has increased to 4.9% from 3.95% which it was when I applied. Could anyone advise my if I will get the original BT rate as it was when I applied or will I get the new increased rate. I know it is still not bad a rate but every % saved helps.
Many thanks in advance.
Dave.
