  • I'm about to phone and release a load of Dundee and thereabouts jobs these will be up to Friday. RE GRASSROOTS, GAP, REACT, ABAI if anyone wants
Still snowed in, getting nowhere with the council, so today I'm phoning the paper and MP. I've not been out the door since 26th. It only needs a hundred yards ON A HILL cleared and we'll all be released!

I do not know if this is possible for you but if there are a number of you stuck can you not clear it between you all? We live at the bottom of a hill which in totally is about 600m long as the road winds up the hill and it has been kept clear throughout the snow by everyone clearing the bits outside their houses (and it is sods law we are on a corner without anyone on the other side so seem to have about double the amount of everyone else's :rotfl:), and everyone mucks in for the bits that the householders can not do physically themselves

Obviously if physically you (or everyone) is not able to do this then I am not suggesting you put yourselves at risk over it..

I'm just waiting for the emails saying "Livingston call centre is understaffed -can you work today?"
    Stay home Jen -sounds awful.

We've just had another "Flash weather warning" in Medway -Roads are very icy -I'm starting to seriously wonder if I can risk travelling to heathrow on the first train of the day on Thursday or if I need to treat myself to a cold night in the terminal Bleah

(There's a Heathrow hotel job out there but I don't really want to shell out £200 that I won't get back this side of Christmas)
I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

    MSE Florida wedding .....no problem

    Hi LOM
I'm registered disabled with arthritis so can't do it. There are only a few of us along here; there's only one couple who are young people and they don't really care (and left their car at the bottom of the hill before the snow, so can get out!) The rest are women, or older. I'm very independent so don't like asking. I'm not going to moan any more tho!

In that case my disclaimer at the bottom comes into action :D it is just something that is winding me up is when people who are more than capable of clearing some of the snow don't bother. I am more worried at the moment if we get any more what we do with the stuff as the sides of the road are piled about 5ft high as it is.

I know what you mean, my pal walked to me the other day (he hasn't got a car) and brought shopping and dug my pathway, the girl next door dug me a path to the bins and got shopping, so neighbours have been good.
I think it's worrying with the thaw (when/if it comes) cos some places will end up flooded too as there is so much snow piled up.
I saw on the news some person is suing her next door cos the snow fell off the roof on her. Some legal person was saying we ARE liable for the snow on our roofs and suggests we clear it:eek: Presumably we should all have cherry pickers in the shed for such an eventuality:rotfl:

I'm actually half-thinking I should get a mini-digger, would if I had more room to keep it. Hills are tricky, the council have given up gritting the one I live on as their gritter kept getting stuck. They now send round a JCB which is very effective. He dumped a 6ft pile of snow in my garden tho and got very close to the neighbour's car, stuck on the pavement.

I suppose if it's on the grass it's no problem, but my pal had spent hours digging her car out, went indoors, next thing the council jcb had dumped 5 feet of snow in front of it:eek:

Luckily she caught up with him before he disappeared so he moved it

He did that 2 days ago, a lovely 5ft high heap in front of our van, this time was better tho I do think that's the end of my roses.
  • Does anybody else see the jobs listed as LLO on GFK?

They have been there for ages and about 30 of them and they keep extending the days. Really annoying me.

Yup, I see those too - though you can decline the jobs on GFK which gets rid of them (you will have to do it each time for each job tho)
