  • Ugh. Gyp have surpassed themselves, they now expect you to record your timing points both in actual clock times (To the second) AND also split durations for chicken drive thru's. Wont be doing that again.

    Thanks fabsaver

Sadly I had another problem! Got a pizza delivery last night (late, cold etc) on a mystery shop and after the guy had left I realised that the receipt had peeled off in the guys "hot bag" or car .... Completed the report other, including phone recordings, but does this mean I am stuffed for reimbursement and fee?? :-s
............... Have you ever wondered what

I just tried to apply for a job on TNS and got the following error message:
"Unfortunately your application to carry out a visit ( Visit ID : xxxxxx, Job Number : xxxxxx-xx ) was not successful. Maximum attempts reached.."

Is this because I had to cancel a job that needed doing by last Thursday because of the snow? It's only just cleared enough for me to get the car off the drive after 4 hours spent digging it out, and I did send them an e-mail about it being because of the severe weather.

They seem to have a backlog of emails at the moment! Just drop them a line and they will sort it out for you - I know I have asked them to change several and its not been a problem. Helen has been in the office and is an absolute saint!

  • What a day! I set off thrilled that I could get some MSing done. 200 yards down the road, puncture. Hazards on I set off to Kwik Fit. The nice man said 45 mins. Ok..off I go on foot and get one of my shops done, huffing and puffing uphill on the way back to get my car. Another hour and a half later...I set off for my pub lunch, having abandoned a catalogue shop because time was running out! I was blatantly told by the member of staff that he didn`t want to make me a coffee cos his mate was on a break! I stood and waited until I got it! I was then overcharged which meant the manager was called to sort it out. I returned to the table just as my meal was plonked unceremoniously in front of me, shooting the peas everywhere! No apology........I await the proof reading queries.........

As an inocent bystander (I was sacked from Gyp chicken long ago), this does seem OTP. So, you have to record split second timings on your wristwatch whilst clicking buttons on your mobile phone (or Gyp timer)??? Does it not say, somewhere, that you also have to juggle three oranges and drink a glass of water backwards at the same time?:D

If I was in for these, I think I'd just note the queue join time, then use my timer and "extrapolate." All this faffing about does make me wonder what they take us for!:rotfl:

I am new to the MS world - although I am hoping to do it a plenty whilst my business takes off.

Can I ask - if you work hard, take lots of jobs and not totally rubbish, when do you get the plush job offers? (weekends away, big payments, etc)

    :)

I am amazed about how much work you have to do to prepare and really understand how to do it - its definately harder than it looks. Silly things like my query above where the receipt was not added onto my pizza box and it may cost me :(

For some companies, it really doesn't matter how good you are as everything is fastest finger first. Not sure that there are any jobs which have big payments - well, not easy jobs anyway. Bank jobs often pay better, but they take longer, so its swings and roundabouts really.

For the smaller companies, they do sometimes have work which they offer to regulars first. But, I couldn't say how long it would take to be offered this as it would depend on who they already have on their books in your area.

These magazine articles (and I read one in Prima just this week) where implied that mystery shoppers get £50 per shop, are very misleading.

hahah Maybe never... It depends who you know... how much the company likes you and there isn't as many "plush" jobs as you think! and you will need to take the "rubbish" jobs to get your foot in the door!-- In fairness there isn't too many rubbish ones.

Well there are companies that pay high but the work isn't as regular as the cheaper jobs.

Also, video MS earns a bit more then report but a lot harder.
