    Quick question...

How much is acceptable to ask for when negotiating an assignment fee? For example, original fee is £xx but company wants the job to be done asap so there is leeway for extra on top!

There's no hard fast rules. It's a negotiation. The amount they'll give is normally directly proportionate to how desperate they are!!

Aim high, worse they can say is no. Best they can say is yes. Most likely thing they'll say is "that's too much but we could give you £xx" :)

I once asked for three and a bit figures for a job that was barely two figures. I got it. Depends which MS co you're dealing with really.

Just got finished writing up my reports from today.

Will someone shoot me if I accept anymore car jobs that are more than 40 miles from my home?!

    Awh, all sad now!

I was very proud of myself today. I was offered a bit extra to do a job. I asked for double the original fee and got it.

Should have asked for triple I guess, but I don't have the guts :rotfl:

Double is good I would say. I am happy to get an extra 50%, which is what I am getting for a job tomorrow. :j

I find it rare to get more than that, tbh they have to be really desperate. It only happens with me if I don't want the job iykwim - name a high price and great if you get it, fine if you don't cause you had a nice day planned anyway. Plus if you regularly name high prices they're not going to keep calling you are they, they'll think you're trying it on and phone someone else. You have to build up a damned good rapport first too.
