I've been searching as well for my bathroom.

The best I found was in John Lewis - somewhat typically I can't find it online now to demonstrate - but in store I'm sure that I saw a stainless steel bathroom shelving unit (flat or corner) for approximately £25 (no, it wasn't cheap!).

Online I can only see chrome-plated ones, but I'm sure that in store I saw the stainless steel one; which of course would be much better

Dont buy the John Lewis one, I did and it still rusted! Very annoyed about it as we deliberately paid a higher price for a stainless steel one and its just as crap as the others!

this bugs me too, i don't get why they make it out of chrome when it's going in a shower. ridiculous, mine barley went 6 months before it started rusting!

Its not the chrome that rusts it is the poor quality steel underneath !

That is why really good quality bath/shower fittings are made from brass then chrome plated - brass and chrome DO NOT rust.
  • Im looking for a replacement too after my 2nd replacement john lewis one has rusted!!! Anyone alse got any sugestions

I bought the Satina over door one from Ebay about 6 months ago (cheaper than Amazon):

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SATINA-CUBICLE-TIDY-SHOWER-BASKET-C-W-5-YEAR-GUARANTEE_W0QQitemZ120487259056QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Home_Garden_BathroomAccessories_SM?hash=item1c0d99abb0

It had a 5 year guarantee written on the box, although I wouldn't know how to enforce that. It's the only one I have ever bought that hasn't rusted after 6 months. It's lovely and spacious too.

The cheaper caddies are a false economy; they will rust sooner or later if they are chrome plated mild steel. The quality of the plating will determine how long it takes before the rusting occurs (the best plating is three layers; copper, nickel, then the chrome), but however good, it will rust eventually if the wirework is mild steel.
So try and ensure the wirework is stainless steel, which is rather difficult visually if it has cosmetic chrome plate on top. To make sure, take a magnet with you when you go shopping; good quality stainless steel is not magnetic.
As has been mentioned before, caddies from Simplehuman look good..(you can get them on Amazon).
  • This is also a bug bear of mine.

This one is advertised as being stainless steel in Argos......

(I tried to post a link but site would not allow me anyway it is Stock No 833/1173, page1002 in the new Catalogue).

For the price I doubt it.
Argos have no stock so maybe that says it all.

    Anybody bought one?

Hi I bought dispensers from here and they are brill. On their site they have trays guaranteed rust free.

    http://www.dispenser.co.uk/

They look good. Sorry to be thick but do you need to order a bottle as well or are they replacement parts?:o

John Lewis sell chrome plated brass ones. They don't rust and effectively last forever - they may be expensive (a single corner one is £50) but IMHO they are worth it.

Just posted this on another board .... might be of interest to you.....

I'm looking for something like this http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=10648091 but can't justify spending that amount of money on some mesh and a hanger. Has anyone seen anything similar but cheaper in the likes of Poundland or Wilkinsons?

    Thanks
