A few miles down the road from the previous link I gave is the tiny hamlet of Nashenden Farm:
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-26463652.html?premiumA=true
I can remember a few years back when Channel Tunnel Rail Link blight made these houses almost unsellable.
If you don't mind being sandwiched between a motorway and busy railway line then it is still a bargain.
There was a compulsory purchased farmhouse literally under the river bridge nearby lay empty for years, but seems to be occupied now.
Edit. Streetview link:

Not on Rightmove - probably never will be if the owner was too stubborn to take the cash when offered before they built the motorway!

What are your opinions on the asking prices of the places you've posted me then?
Interesting that they are so well presented - I think htey must have picked them up for such sensible prices initially that they've felt they have the money to spend on the interiors? Or that the presentation will make up for what it lacks in peace and quiet?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

By the condition of it, it does look like it's either inhabited by a bit of a loony or it's empty.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

At the other end of the scale, I was looking at the most expensive house on Rightmove in Chelsea, at 03.40 in the morning while at work (like you do):

Clicked on Streetview and panned round. What on earth is that all about? Don't think many billionaires will want that next door.Been away for a while.0 -

LOL! Really glad I started this thread. Where have you found them all?
OT, but that house shows the benefit of a wide angle lens doesn't it? It looks very different on Streetview.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Good question! The house in Barkisland (with the Pylon in the back garden) I would have been quite happily paid an extra 100K plus for. The potential is huge, and the views in that area are really quite breathtaking. OH (builder) reckons for 100K he could have put another floor on and refitted throughout to high spec. House would probably be then worth 500k. With the pylon though there is no price that I personally would buy it for.
I think the one with the motorway in back garden though is having a laugh. Very small house with no potential (at least to my untrained eye) and you could get a house of the same size for the same money (albeit not "architect designed") without the added attraction of the M62 bordering your property. Also there looked to be a suspicious shadow on one of the pics that looked remarkably like a pylon....0 -

Personally I found them because this is the area I want to live (honestly!). I found that the only houses up to asking price of £350k had a problem. I don't know if it's the time of year and all the "good" houses have sold or if ( and I suspect this may be the case) I need to increase my budget.0 -
How about this one? At least the EA is up-front!

Not only do you get beautiful views of the treatment works (it was presumably built for on-site workers) you are in the middle of a railway line triangle.0
