Glad you had a good holiday :)
Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j
  • Wow, just read your thread at work (oops!) and cant believe the progress youve made in such little time, and it seems relatively painless?! (not detracting from what you've achieved). I have similar starting debts to you circa 20K all on cards which ive been rotating on 0% free deals but dont seem to be getting anywhere even tho' my salary is similar to yours.

You have given me more inspiration to try again..harder..

Thanks and keep up the good work!

You can do it! Get a snowball calculator going and a good budget. You'd laugh if you saw how detailed mine is but it's made such a difference to my life. It also gives flexibility. I can shave off a tenner or five from one category to another if there are unexpected overspends.

Beccie the holiday seems like an age ago but I'm going to get some pics printed next week so I'm looking forward to that.

Hoping that I'll be able to pay off more than £10k in the next 12 months, GAP! It's addictive!

  • Thanks, Im going to do an SOA today and do a budget for October. I have tried using the budget spreadsheet on here(is that what you used?) which is good, but I always fail at implementing it
  • No I made my own so that I could split the categories down further and include things which are not on the list. I split my budget into bills/direct debits and then discretionary spending which changes every month depending on what's going on at home.

Have you tried a spending diary? I did that for 3 months to get the budget working properly.

    Fabulous!
    Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
    Mortgage today = £161,690.76
    300 271 payments to go.
    House buyout fund £21,000/£40,000
  • Up another % to 42%. Hoping to reach the magic 50% next month.

This week's target is to clear the overdraft (only £117 to go). I can't wait to get started on my Natwest loan next (a consolidation loan gone bad). The interest is really low so it should go down very quickly.

We're having a frugal month with a view to moving the DFD to Dec 2012. Looking forward to recalculating!
