    hiya,

glad you got a room at the right price!

I didn't actually stay there to take advantage of the airport parking, I was staying there whilst visiting Horsham, so I can't help you on the taxi cost - sorry...
It didn't seem TOO far from the airport, why don't you give them a call and see how much a taxi would cost if they booked it for you?

    Best wishes,
    Sheri

Does anyone have any tips for parking at or near Stansted Airport?

Ryanair have some great flight deals on until midnight tonight but any savings seem to be offset with high parking charges, and I'm travelling from Manchester!

I am a bit cheeky re parking and use the facilities of the local residential town

Get the number of a local taxi firm to Stanstead airport or one that is based in Bishops Stortford (largest town nearby)

    Here's a link from yell

    http://www.yell.co.uk/ucs/UcsSearchAction.do?searchType=classic&companyName=taxi&location=bishops+stortford&mqs=xi

Drive to either Bishops Stortford or one of the small villages near by and find a nice quiet residential street without any parking restrictions. There are loads in Bishop Stortford !!

Figure out the address you are at and order your taxi.

You will be able to park there for free (as long as you have tax and nothing is wrong with your car) and the taxi ride will be bound to be cheaper than parking at Stanstead.

Keep the taxi number and use the same comapny to collect you. Normally airport taxi's are charged an additional cost by the airport to pick up customers. This is passed onto you.

I'm sure this will save you money, but compare costs first and check the costs of the taxi. It may well annoy the local resident where your car is parked, but you are quite within your rights to park anywhere you want.

We leave our car at a small car park, run by a bloke from his own home about 7 minutes away from Stansted. He has a secure high-fenced lock-up area and transfers to and from the terminals are included in the price, which is £5 a day.

I have no connections with this man, other than being a customer. Send me a PM if you want his details.

Go to your local scap yard and buy an old banger that just about runs. Buy it in a false name. Use it to drive to the airport and park it in Manchester airport parking.

When you fly home, if the car is still there. Drive up to the exit gate and then put your foot flat to the floor and ram the barrier. Then calmly drive to your home and abandone the car afew streets away.

    Sorted.

I have done exactly the same thing at Stanstead several times.

    Try https://www.checksecureparking.co.uk
They are located 5 minutes from the airport and charge about £25 per week. I have used them several times.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Hi I am flying out from Gatwick at 9.00am in October for 2 weeks.

The cheapest deal I can get is currently £75 for parking for 2 weeks

    or

£110 for night in a hotel and 2 weeks car park

This is still very expensive for me, does anyone have any suggestions. Ideally I would like to spend the night before in a hotel

I will be grateful for any tips

    Thanks
