Hi .. sorry to nose in.. but the post by Addy mentions the cost of the Taxi.. which is steep by Heathrow...

Can I recommend Station Taxis.. don't have the full number .. I book them via work.. starts 01753....

they are based Near heathrow.. but outside the M25.. so the hotel should have their number..

its a lot cheaper than using a Black Cab. or a heathrow based firm.. last time from Colnbrook.. to T4 cost about £12.. versus double from a black cab..

if its of interest I'll get the number off work tommorrow...

I have used Airparks a couple of times and been more than happy with their service and prices.

I used them last month before a holiday to Menorca. The cost for 8 days parking was only £29.00. The car park is virtually on site being only 5 minutes away. There is a direct minibus service to take you and collect you from the terminal.

Would certainly use them again in the future. Saves about £17.00 from parking in the long term car park which I've done for years.

The number of Station Taxis would be great. We booked an hotel with a shuttle service to the airport but it seems that none of them go to T4 for some reason. As there are 4 of us, it could work out cheaper and more convenient to take a taxi.

these are B&Bs and farms around the airport. I got a great deal - £30 single room, £2 a day to park. Then a minicab to the airport.

I'm looking for a similar deal near Stansted now. Does anyone know of one?

check out premier lodge, they have 3 lodges near Gatwick and offer 7 nights or 14 nights free parking when you stay 1 or 2 nights with them. Not sure if the offer applies to the special weekend rate of £25 a room though, check out their website.

I spent the night at Gatwick South last night, and the rooms are great, I was very impressed.

i'm flying from gatwick in sept. i booked a cheap deal with travelodge £25 a room. they have these offers every now and again. worth a try . ithink maybe you can get cheap parking aswell.

Can you tell me how far was it from the airport south terminal please? I've read various distances from 1 to 6 miles.

How much was your taxi, if you dont mind me asking?
