A lovely day..smallest pony was very good and liked his new home especially having a field mate his own size! seemed to like the little girl too!! Hope it works out and he doesn't come back too soon! As will save me an average of £100 a month :money:.

Girls didn't notice he was gone and were really happy that the fence had been moved, lots of extra lush grass!! Even forgave me for putting wormer in their feed.

Over spent a bit on onion bulbs and got talked into buying mega expensive jumbo garlic which I then found a whole £ cheaper somewhere else!!! it better taste good thats all I can say!

Planted half the onion sets at friends allotment and the mega expensive jumbo garlic....which stayed in the ground for exactly 60 seconds as duvet dog proudly dug them up again as soon as my back was turned!!!

Spent afternoon at the new allotment, made the new composter out of pallets. Planning to spend tomorrow up there to start digging some beds. heres hoping for more sunshine!

  • morning, monday yet again ,
they dont half seem to role around fast. weekend gone and work cycle starts again. (yep got the monday morning blues).
Dont know why though because got off to a real good start today, pony turned out, stable mucked out, feed ready for tonight etc, 2 loads of washing done and about to peg out (if the very black cloud above my house decides to shift!!!!), downstairs hoovered and kettle about to go on.............phew!

Glad to see your cars back on the road again, and although its cost you it could have been a lot more so not so bad. I m exactly the same as you, ok with the budget until something unexpected comes along.....i really must learn to put money aside for car maintainence, household repairs/breakdowns etc and also a pot for unexpected entertainment too- i get so little enetertainment or should i say going out entertainment that it comes as a shock these days..........What do you do for cheap entertainment ? any new ideas gratefully accepted, im money and time short...by the time all the jobs are done im either too tired to go anywhere or if i have the time im too skinty!

had a roast turkey crown yesterday- in the freezer since last christmas so decided time to cook it... lovely roast dinner off it last night, sandwiches for this lunchtime too and think im going to make a creamy cheesy lasagne with the rest for tonight or possibly tomorrow. cant waste anything now so trying to stretch it , if im careful there could be enough for tomorrows pack up too. decided i need to do a meal plan for the next few weeks so i dont over buy on the food, at the same time im trying to put in extra tins/cupboard items for xmas and also stretch the weekly shop to include the odd xmas gift too. this way hoping to avoid so much stress and spend less money in my usual last minute panic at the checkouts christmas eve......I WILL BE ORGANISED THIS YEAR....I WILL...I WILL...

So whats the job list for this week ? you seem to have ploughed through alsorts last week. Great news on the horse loan...extra pennies to pay off something else.

thinking of starting weigh* w*tchers this week because i desparately need a good stone off or i will need a new wardrobe!!! but cant get my head round spending a fiver a week to be weighed when im trying to save money, i know if i try at home i WILL without a doubt cheat and get nowhere,
but if i dont go it will cost me shortly in new clothes because they are getting som tight. oh the joy of my life lol.

    see you soon fmf

Just had a look at the new budget ......on the positive side it looks like I have an extra year to clear my debts as won't be retiring until I'm 66 :j lol!

Also DS was hoping to get a flat of his own with the help of housing benefit, now he has reached the 25 year age limit, but they have increased it to 35!! Looks like DS and DD will be living with me for a while yet :D

Other than that it is still wait and see how it will effect us all.....

    Hi FMF,

I don't really have a budget for entertainment, I spend far to much on the ponies and the allotment to pay for anything else!! like you am pretty tired at the end of each day anyway i hardly stay awake through CSI !! Which reminds me they have replaced Midsummer Murders with football again tonight

Have you had any luck with selling your pony yet? Now one pony is on loan DD is pushing me to sell one of the other 2. Not to save money but because she wants me to move the remaining pony to a yard with better facilities so she can ride it!

I've told her if she paid for one of the ponies she can keep it where she liked, but she has gone very quiet! :D

Don't think i will keep to my NSD target this month but the grocery challenge looks promising! Doing this has really helped me focus on my spending and realise why things go wrong. You have the right idea putting money aside for the unexpected as that is where it goes wrong for me. Next month will be more successful as wont have spent DS's rent the month before!

    Lucielle,

sounds like we do the same sort of work? Its not the submitting on line that I find tricky its getting all the financial transactions from my boss in time! The year end's and the vat return's are all waiting on doc's that are missing from him!

hope you are feeling better soon!

    Laters!

    morning ladies...

I dont put money aside for emergencys /repairs etc thats my huge problem!!(know i should but only just realised i should actually physically do it every week ) havent been saving my car insurance or road tax either and they are due in february. so going to have to do some serious money saving between now and then plus of course christmas , have 6 nieces and nephews plus my 2 kids, hubby , mil and my parents to buy for. oh now im wishing i had got myself organised in January.! my savings accounts i opened i have to put in a minimum of £25 a month to get any interest, which i have managed for the last 2 months but thats it. one account i want for total rainy day savings not to be touched unless huge problem and the other was supposed to be for a holiday/new car in a few years time (dont want a loan for my next one ). I know i seem to have all my priorities wrong but i am getting there.i need another day to day account for car/repairs etc as well, that will be coming shortly (I HOPE).

no luck on the pony front im afraid , loads of enquiries but no one comes to look or they make arrangements and dont turn up. so a bit fed up on that front. would save me a job every day and £200 a month. DD too busy with college and work and socialising so i do almost everything now but know nothing about them really its always been dd hobby, so i will keep on trying to sell. i have even tried an ad for loan but still no joy.

just been sat writing out a budget for november and am going to try and do december too, then all i have to do is try and stick to it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i work for a small business part time in the office and have been helping out with the accounts a few hours a week /paye/vat etc. so looks like im doing something similar to you too! spooky. i had full time management job until a couple of years ago, got seriously stressed and fed up with it and choose to go part time for someone else in a small office environment instead. very little stress, sometimes boring but much better. accounts short staffed so im filling the gap for a while but dont find it easy ( figures not my best point..............), paye etc easy enough but rest i dont really like, but we will see how it goes.

feel sorry for your ds, you wait for things then the goalposts are moved, i have one at university and the dd will hopefully go next year, but the cost is getting ridiculously frightening for them. DS ok he should be done by the time the new changes come in, but they will be starting their working lives in debt and yes they do work part time to help themselves as well.

well i sound a bit of a misery this morning dont i ? having a bit of a moan.

have a good day , weekend to look forward to, hope it warms up a bit though we have had the heating on since monday and have had frost on the car the last 2 mornings.

    talk soon

I will let you into a little secret FMF....something I am so ashamed about that it is hard to write it down.........ha ha now thats got your attention !!!

Last year I was exactly like you in the savings Dept... Iknew it was easier to save than to keep having to find the money last minute. In January my New year resolution was to get sorted. I opened several accounts and worked out how much everyhting cost per month and started saving....It was hard at first but then I got used to living on what was left.

It was lovely actually, I saved some money by being able buy some things in bulk as i has saved in advance...like wormers for the horses for the whole year. I also had the cash for tlhe vaccinations and saddler all ready, so I didn't keep putting them off. Life was so much less stressful than the usual skrimping and scraping.

Then it happened, the cycle I get myself into every time. I don't know why. I think I lull myself into a false sense of security money wise and then over stretch myself.

Anyhow, horse 1 upset me one day as I wanted to ride but couldn't catch her....so on the spur of the moment I decided to put her in foal and........(.imagine big drum roll in this bit).......bought myself another horse with the money I had saved for the bills, plus that months rent/mortgage!!!!!!!

I know ....all those things you are now thinking I think myself! Am an Idiot!

Of course immediatly after, things start to go wrong.....unexpceted vets bills for dog, horses, Garage bill for car and 4 months later I still have no savings, am still behind with mortgage/rent and now fuel bills are going up and christmas on its way.......

I keep thinking the picture would be so different now, if I had continued with my New Years Resolution :(

So once I have caught up with the mortgage and rent and xmas is out of the way, I am starting again with the savings. I am back to the 2 ponies so lets see if I can stick to it this year and break the cycle!
