Thanks Lucielle....but whats sump oil ? .....and you had cows?

Have got another half day off work tomorrow for big mares big day! Vet is coming to scan her to see if she is in foal. Am not sure how I will feel if she is now....I have wanted it for so long but if she is I have to find another £200 for the stud fee.:( Decided to leave the ponies treatment until tomorrow as more time.

I hope the riding lessons happen for you. Sometimes i've seen people advertise for someone to help excercise their horse, especially during the winter, maybe you could find someone who would let you ride for free near you? Or maybe in xchange for mucking out? I know that I often wish for someone to give me a day off! It is not always the money that is important when people look for sharers.

Ate my first ever carrots/parsnips and Celeric that i grown myself today:D were wonderful ....out of the ground and in my tum in under 2 hours ....delicious :)

Cows were another life!!! I genuinely believe its used oil that smothers the infection. Would love to ride somebody elses horse but as I'm not exactly a slim jim its probably best if I get a weight bearer at the riding school.

    Fingers crossed for today.

just a quick update.....Jasmine is not going to have a foal, which is a shame but also a relief as don't know how I was going to afford it.

Vet bill came in £20 under the £140 I had budgeted for :)

Had a lie in this morning! Daniel's day off so no 5am start :)

Aswell as Jas's scan the vet thought that the ponies were probably no longer contageous which is good news. Am going to still treat them with the Imavoral just to make sure. So spent yesterday afternoon scrubbing all 3 ponies who are now gleaming and putting their first application on. Happily it didn't sting like the Iodine, so ponies and I make become friends again!

DD took advantage of Jas being sedated and pulled her mane.....she's been dying to trim it off for years!!!

    Now down to the spending.

    Top up $sd$ shopping £4.80
    Phone voucher £10.00
    Petrol £34.15
    Ponies livery £182.00
Vet Bill £120.00 - oops forgot the big one!

Resisted the Fish and chip shop on the way home from the stables :)

So all within budget....trying for NSD today . Now to update signature.

Ponies looking happier this morning, all came bouncing over for breakfast at 6am! Took Duvet dog for walk....she doesn't look happy at 6am, prefering to stay in bed. Poo picked the ponies field, the muck heap is getting bigger will have to bag some up for the allotment soon. Still had half an hour so picked some more blackberries. One of the other horse owners has mushrooms growing in her field and she gave me a bag, so I did very well this morning!

quick update before i nod off...

Got nearly all my jobs done at the weekend so very satisfying. Amazing how writing a list helps focus the mind...I usually get up to late and potter about in my jamas until lunch then wonder why I havn't got anything done!

Strawberry patch nearly cleared 2 sackfuls of couch grass roots so far.... have transported 4 pallets for making a compost heap. While looking for a suitable place to put it i found what looks like a small apple tree hidden in the brambles and an existing compost heap ready for use :) What looked like just alot of long grass is turning up some treasures :j

Have planted some supermarket garlic today to see if it works ....

Very pleased with £10 hair cut yesterday ..can now see..!! should of been £9 but i just can't take the change, :o I have to leave it for the tip jar.

Have managed another NSD today :) , took a lovely packed lunch of HG Salad to work. Will try and last until Friday when the DD's go out...could be another 3 to add this week.

Made Mushroom soup with the mushrooms my neighbour gave me...was much easier than I thought. Had some for my tea tonight...very filling and tasty, if i'm allowed to say so myself? Have put some in the freezer to see how well it freezes.

So all good so far this week.....off to sleep now as up again at 5.30

  • wow have you been busy and got lots done.........

ive been busy myself , thats why i havent had a chance to chat in the last few days.

your allotment is going well , you sound very busy , here i need to get in ours and get rid of some weeds(more weeds than veg this week!). still the beans are coming - when will they end??? this year i didnt plant some stuff til may and that may have prolonged my season but it has also been reasonably mild around here too, usually we have had frost before the end of september but still nothing. The tomatoes and cucumbers are in the greenhouse so thats why they have done well and lasted so long, but will get the last few today and thats it. sproutsa are tiny buds now so hoping to have how grown ready for christmas- dad has the parsnips and we have sprouts and leeks fresh for then. Have carrots, cauli, beans etc all tucked away in the freezer. so most of the xmas dinner sorted. Did you freeze your apples cooked or uncooked? i have 3 trees and loads of apples but stuck for space now to store them. at the weekend i made damson gin for the first time to use up the fruits. looks a lovely deep red colour already and should just be ready for the new year( unless hubby decides to try it at xmas.....he has no patience at all).

Well good news and bad on your horses i suppose , nice to be getting rid of the problems but new pony would habe been cute even though a huge expense. I have had loads of enquiries on ours but only one visitor and she was too large for her very tiny child- why do people not read the advert??? i said exactly who she would be suitable for , size strength etc but it makes no difference. such is life.

had first leek and potatoe soup at the weekend and was totally gorgeous.....

decided to try and do my house up without spending much money- heres a challenge... everywhere needs painting, sorting , organising etc, but money very tight. so i have looked on the shabby chic site and started painting some old pine furniture (with a half tin of paint we found lurking in the shed), it looks times better already. i have already searched put all the other old paint tins and have enough for a room or two, so thats a good start.

have a good day , off to try and be a bit productive
    see you shortly
