I did think that! I was advised once to try ketchup in Lucy's food to stop her wee burning the grass. She sniffed the food, then tipped her dish over, rolled in it, and ate whatever didn't have ketchup on.
So I had ketchup all over the kitchen floor and smeared all over Lucy's fur too.
She's particularly fond of rolling in decomposing creatures...pigeons being the current favourite...!!0 -
Totally off topic but this lot has made me laugh so much.... hope all your wiffs are gone soon xxx:beer:0

I too have the fox poo problem with my two border terriers - never heard of using ketchup. I just tend to shampoo their coat a couple of times and it tends to do the trick.0

I would have no problem getting Badger to eat ketchup, she is obsessed with tomatoes, however, the decomposing creatures thing is familar unfortunately.
A couple of years ago, I bought Badger a dog coat, as her fur holds a lot of mud and water - I thought it would make cleaning her up less of a job....
The first time I took her out in it, we were walking through some woods, a lovely bright winters day - Badger was off in front of me sniffing and exploring... then I saw her dip down and start to roll, ecstatically, all four legs in the air - in her new coat
I shouted her... she carried on rolling... I started jogging down the path towards her, shouting 'Badger! Badger! Badger!'... to no avail
....when I caught up with her, I found out that was exactly what she had been rolling in - a dead, slimy flattened badger's corpse!!
Had to drive home with all the windows down!0 -

Bleurgh, fox poo is the worst! I remember one time my shih tzu rolled in some really sloppy stuff and she was covered and it was a hot day! I was so embarrassed walking her home, people were looking at us in disbelief! Never heard of the ketchup remedy though, we just bunged her in the bath although there was so much of it it was easier to bath her that time but next time it's just a little bit I'll try that and just hope the other two don't eat her.0

My rough collie, while I'm fortunate enough not to have him roll in fox poo, shows a remarkable enthusiasm for rolling in pretty much everything else.
Quite funny, as he's dainty about stepping in a pile of mud, and dislikes his paws being dirty, but will happily roll in it making disturbing groaning noises.
Tonight may be time to soak him for a bit and try and reduce his em, cologne from 'pong' to 'stink.'0 -
Our cross bedlington/border rolled in some fox (or deer) poo yesterday and hubby bathed her with my strawberry shower gel as he couldn't find her normal shampoo (which incidently was right behind him in the cabinet where it always is!) and she's smelt like Strawberry Shortcake now for 2 days!!
Got rid of the smell though!0 -

It must neutralise the smell somehow. I think lemon juice also works a bit but not as good as good old tommy k!
People in the USA also use it to get rid of the smell of skunks. good job we dont have them over here!0
