Dog rolled: dealing with smell...

I have no ketchup in the house, and her dog shampoo hasn't removed the smell...
Any other store cupboard things that might remove the pong without hurting her in anyway, or do I have to go out for ketchup?:o

I was told that tomatoes work. They were used for fox poo. Do you have a tin of those in?
Even if they don't work, they won't hurt0 -

No, highly unusually I'm out.I do have some tomato paste which similarly won't hurt her...
any one else any ideas? (I suppose I could bung some sugar, cloves and a splash of vinegar for stripped down home ketchup?:o:o:o)0 -
What I do for fox poo... Run a basin full of fairy liquid and hot water.. take some bubbles from the top with a comb and work it into the fur where the poo is and then rinse and repeat. I make sure that it is washed thoroughly afterwards but have seen no ill effects and it works like magic.0

doubtless I'll get opportunity to try many different remedies in the future. She's had another bath, and smells rather than stinks now, which will do for today:o0 -
I remember this from when we had the Westies. They just couldn't help themselves when they found some fox poo! I can remember using human shampoo as well as the dog stuff to get rid of it0

Ketchup? How does that deal with the smell?0

I'm not sure how it works, but it definitely does!!!
It must neutralise the smell somehow. I think lemon juice also works a bit but not as good as good old tommy k!
People in the USA also use it to get rid of the smell of skunks. good job we dont have them over here! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
Fizzy water and baby wipes help.0

Oh, right. I'll have to remember that next time my dogs roll in something disgusting.
With Lucy, it's usually food related. In the summer she found a half full catering size tub of coleslaw dumped in the park - upended it and rolled gleefully in the contents.
The stuff must've been there for weeks and was totally rancid. She was covered in it and I couldn't believe the stench. I had to bath her God knows how many times and she still whiffed.
So that ketchup thing might just come in handy next time.0 -
I did the ketchup thing once - the dog had pink white bits for ages after, and smelt of a combination of ketchup and !!!!!!... not good!0
