If your mattress needs changing and is not in to bad a state why not try a mattress topper.

A topper is ok if the mattress is still sound. Although you shouldn't use a topper to try and revive an old worn out mattress, as the springs are still very important.

    Was that to me? :)
If so, I'm sleeping on a blow up mattress at the moment so that wouldn't be in any good.

I've had my 'no nonsence' cancellation call who told me that the 7 day distance selling regulations allows them to cancel.

I called consumer direct who told me that a contract was formed when they took my money out of the bank, and it doesn't matter what the terms and conditions are that Argos put in place as they will try to wiggle out of it. They told me to put it in writing to HO to show that I'm being reasonable first, if the outcome is unsatisfactory then call them back, and they will see if Trading Standards want to take it up.

I know that this 'contract, acceptance' thing comes up quite often on MSE and the law is still not clear(to me anyway) so I would quite like to take this further to see what the outcome is. I'm sure some people wont agree with me, but that is their perogative :)

I think if Argos had acted quicker and cancelled my order by the weekend I would have left it, but they've had my money for 5 days now.
  • I'm with you J20Baby. I know what people are saying about contacts etc but it does seem wrong. Especially as the site showed this offer for a couple of days.

Good luck getting them to honour the mis-price, you'll need it. They haven't broken any laws, they are perfectly entitled to cancel your order for any reason prior to dispatch.

They have 7 days to cancel, as they have, but up to 30 days to refund.

They seem to be claiming that they can cancel under the DS Regs, as far as I can tell that right is for the consumer only, can someone point me to the section in the Regs that gives the retailer the same rights ?
