I hope people don't mind me posting this here, but not sure the best place for it...
I've just been talking to my friend who works for the NHS about a new handbook she will be getting along with a 'gold card' to get discounts for products and services...
Apparently other areas have these already but they are about to come to the Manchester area soon...
Does anybody have one and use it?

Its absolutely rubbish, hardly has anything apart from the same advert for subway in it every month telling NHS workers they get 10% off sarnies etc.
Im in North West London by the way and work for the NHS0 -
I am in london and work in the nhs. I have seen signs on pizza hut doors saying nhs gold card accepted here, but have never known what it is. I know about the nhsdiscounts website which isn't fantastic...but any ideas on how to find out about the gold card? (ie:web link or address to apply to etc?) My kids love a meal out at pizza hut and any money off is better than none. (also have a subway nearby!!)
Thanks in advance.Mortgage free 04/03/2025. Thanks to this site and lots of overpayments bit by bit.
Next stop: house repairs, holiday fund, replace our very old cars, more financial security/early retirement savings.🤞0 -
the nhsdiscounts website is truely awful
I didn't know you can get 10% subways! is that at any branch?
haven't been able to find out anymore about the gold card, soz0 -
However, NHS, policemen and firemen get 20% off at nando's!"This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0

Choose your country and then location and you'll get details of the offers - Manchester isn't currently listed.
The Edinburgh version had some reasonable offers, but they don't appear to do Edinburgh anymore.0 -
or register at http://www.nhsdiscounts.com/ as i did when i got my card (ages ago, through HR)
Also theres a garage near my hospital that cut my MOt bill from £40 to £25 because im a nhs worker, if anyones interested pm me, dont want peopl to think im advertising.

I work for a mental health trust in Yorkshire and we have been getting the 'gold card' for a couple of years, it's nothing to write home about. The usual type of things, insurance companies offering small discounts, local businesses like small hairdressers, solicitors offering discount on will writing and that type of thing. I've never found anything useful to me, and this year after a quick flick through, I chucked it straight in the bin.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0
