No!
There are 2 types of connection; ADSL and Cable. You need to find out which one you are. Majority of Virgin Media's are Cable. If yours is Cable, you need a Cable Router, not an ADSL Router.
Also are you able to take a picture of your current virgin box?
Sorry the pic is a bit big. Is it like that? Or does it look completely different?
Sorry was at work, yes it's that one.0 -
Can I hijack this thread for a quick question?
My son has an xbox but it's an older version. He asked last night if I would buy the 'stuff' needed for it to go Live.
I have a wireless router, and good connection.
DO I just need this pack http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/8054952/Xbox-360-60GB-Live-Starter-Kit/Product.html
let him use the free 3 months and then join him up for 12 months or whatever later?
Thanks
Does he need the HD??
That's what's costing the money in this pack.
With this cost + £50 for the adapter I'd buy the xbox from the first post and you're sorted

And from this, does it then go into the back of the computer or another box?
If straight into the computer then you need a cable router.

This one would do you perfectly. You plug the modem into this box. This then can have multiple devices connected, so PC, laptop, iPhone, Xbox etc.0 -

Using debit/credit card. You buy it through the xbox, just typing in details like you would a normal shopping site. I imagine anyway. This is one way to top up your xbox live subscription so I think it would be the same procedure.
How much? No idea.0 -

Thanks. Reading more, I presume you also have to pay to download games? Even with Xbox live gold? And Sky player? So the only free stuff is chatting and playing online with other gamers?? Hmmm...:cool:0 -

Haha yes.
Demo's are free too to download. If you have sky in the house he can watch it through his xbox (I think you may need multibox service with Sky? Not 100% on that though) if you tell him the account info.0 -

No we don't have Sky..... Going to have to have a chat with him, afraid I won't be paying for movies etc....
With PS3 do you have to buy a sub like Xbox? I know PS3 is dearer but was wondering if it would work out cheaper, I guess I would still need a router?0 -

You would need the router but nothing else (unless you wanted a headset as well). PS3 can also play Bluray discs, so if you / DS(DD?) has a big TV they can watch HD movies on bluray discs.
That was my reason to buying a PS3. Means I didn't have to buy an Xbox + Bluray player.0
