Ok, my son wants this for xmas

Sorry to be a bit dim, a few questions:o It says built in Wi-Fi, does this mean i don't need a wireless modem? I don't have one if so.... I know you have to buy the subs for xbox live, just not sure how it connects to the internet! Also are they likely to b in high demand for Xmas? Should I buy soon? And I presume it only comes with one controller? Which one to buy?

  • Yes the *NEW* xbox 360 has a built in wireless adapter, so to connect it without an Ethernet wire you'll need a modem/router that supports wireless.

Yup correct you need a sub, best time to buy a sub card link here apparently the price is set to rise in November!

Not sure if it will be in high demand for xmas, as it's basically a rehash of the console that's already on the market. But i'm sure they wont run out of supplies like the launch! Saying that Kinect will likely be high in demand this crimbo.

Yes usually the pack contains 1 controller, you don't necessarily need to buy another controller straight away, but I tend to find the Official 360 controllers are better quality, remember you get what you pay for!
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!

Ok, the ethernet wire is what I am using now to connect to my modem? The blue one? I presume I can't connect 2 to the modem? Where would I get a wireless modem/router? Can I ask Virgin my supplier for one, not sure of costs either!
  • If you contact Virgin and tell them you would like to upgrade to wireless it's £50 for the Virgin Media hub (combined modem and wireless router) though that could be dependent on which cable service you are on

or very often free if you tell them you are going to cancel your service with them and move to someone else who will give you a free one, you'll usually need to commit to another 12 months internet with them but if you were doing that anyway....

no its very likely you can connect 2 ethernet cables, if you don't have more than one ethernet socket on the thing you'd need a network switch of some kind -unless you get a dirt cheap one on ebay probably better with the wireless option

Could I just buy a router to connect laptop and Xbox by my modem, instead of going wireless and upgrading my package with virgin?
