Ebay - Still no goods after 5 days

Hi Folks,
I paid for some jeans through paypal last thursday. The seller said they would end them first class recorded on Monday, that means they should of turned up today (tuesday).
Seeing as I paid very promptly for them, am I right to be annoyed?
He also isn't replying to my emails.
Should I just sit tight and give it more time?
Thanks in advance

Ermmm yeh you should give it more time! The seller has a life! I have just started selling on ebay and my items ended on sunday and i had angry "where's my item" messages by Thursday!!!
The postal service is usually slow, its rare in my exoeriece to get things next day.
I usually give items a week/week and a half...CHILL OUT!Need a new start..wheres good to live in the UK?!0 -
1st class is not guaranteed next day delivery, I'd give it a few more days before you start panicing.0

Erm, you having a laugh? Give them chance, Recorded doesnt always arrive next day.0

It's only been 1 working day since the item was posted. Give it a chance. 1st class does not guarantee next day delivery and can easily take 2 or 3 days. Sometimes longer. If you receive nothing by Friday I would then contact the seller and confirm what day it was sent.
Sellers do not control the speed of Royal mail and items do get delayed. Also not all sellers are welded to the net and have other jobs so may not be able to reply immediately.
So you have sent more than one the day after the item has meant to have been sent asking where it is.:eek:mattastic wrote:He also isn't replying to my emails.
That would ring alarm bells to most sellers as a problem buyer. if you were posting here with you ebay ID you would hear the click of blocked bidder lists being updated.0 -
Thanks for the replies guys, I haven't used ebay before, well I did about ten years ago I think.
Everybody take a deep breath and calm down, I only asked a question :-)0 -

Nope, I just sent him an email asking for the tracking details today so I could track the parcel, I was perfectly polite and courtious.0 -
Recorded doesn't provide extra insurance or speed, it means that the item will be signed for (or should be!) when it gets delivered.
I wouldn't be worried just yet. If something hasn't turned up in a week, I message the seller politely asking if they got my payment, I only start worrying if it's been two weeks.
However, sellers should prioritise getting items out as soon as possible. It's not good sense to keep your customers waiting too long for dispatch. They may have a life but they have an obligation to people too."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I thought it did! Thanks for your reply.
I will patiently sit tight for now.
Please forgive my panicking, I am sooooooooooooooo looking forward to getting them.0 -

Agreed:) However I do get excited and want my purchases ASAP, but have to be realistic, people are busy and PO opening times aren't great for working people. When I sell items I do try and post same day or day after, but I don't work, so can usually get to the PO without problem.grocery challenge Sept 2012 £21/£3990 -
We've all been there. I panicked over an Amazon item during the summer, mainly because I asked them to send it to a different address - where we were staying with our cousins on holiday - so I could give it to my cousin as a gift and not have to post it to him when he went back to America. But it arrived safely during our stay there, so all was good.
If you want something delivered next day, ask for Special Delivery. It's not economic on smaller, less expensive items, but on items like phones or iPods, it's the only way I would send something that needed insurance or express delivery.
@ODLass - I don't work either; when I buried the hatchet with my local PO boss (long story which I won't go into) I could stop planning my auctions around the days I could get into town to post.
If people have difficulty posting items out promptly and only have once or twice during the week to get them out, then plan things accordingly. When the only days I could post out were Saturday or Monday, I used to end auctions on Wednesday and Thursday to give people time to pay before I could post out. I recently started braving the guy at the local PO 5 minutes walk away though, so I don't have to do that any more.
You do have to think about this very carefully as buyers' expectations are very high. eBay went mainstream a few years ago and people got used to quick delivery from places like Amazon. It's difficult but it is pretty rewarding to get it right."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
