The Comet 2p TV matter was mentioned on ITV1 This Morning consumer slot.
Don Mcintyre said you can't expect to get the tv @ 2p as it is clearly a slip up!! There was a newspaper in the background mentioning it too.0 -
I don't know if this will help or upset anyone, but below are two statements copy and pasted from comets terms and condition:
*Once You’ve placed Your Order, We will acknowledge Your Order and confirm availability by e-mail as soon as possible. This is just to let You know that We’ve received Your Order and one of Our agents will be processing it. It doesn’t mean that We’ve legally accepted Your Order.
Acceptance of Your Order, and the completion of the Contract, will take place when We despatch the Goods to You
*Whilst We always try to ensure the accuracy of the prices on Our Website, there will inevitably be rare occasions when We make a mistake. If We discover any errors in the price of Goods before We accept Your Order, We will notify You as soon as possible and give You the option to resubmit Your Order at the correct price, select alternative products or cancel Your Order.
I hope to god some slip through as I placed an ordered but from these terms I don't hold out much hope........0 -
I read these forums all the time, but never posted...until now. Reading this just made me LOL, the fact that some people actually thought they would be recieving an LG 32" tv for 2p is unreal!
Comet are well within their rights to cancel or refuse an order, no contract in entered with the customer until the item is dispatched.
Fair play to people who tried their luck but sorry to say none of them are going to slip through the net, so these people need to have a good look at the T&Cs on their website and maybe read them before submitting your order and stop giving Comet so much grief about it.
None of you who placed an order for this item have a leg to stand on and will 100% not be getting a 2p tv delivered this week, next week or ... in fact ever from Comet! It's the truth!Keep Smiling!!!

If anyone believes any TV is delivered then your stupid.
OP"Now I appreciate this was an opportunistic moment but does an order confirmation give me any rights as a consumer? Are they able yo cancel an order due to stock issues? Hope I have explained this well enough."
SHUT UP YOU IDIOT, YOU HAVE NO DAM RIGHTS
Now that is just plain rude!0 -
I hear what everyone's saying, but I've checked by statement and Comet have taken the money from my account.
Does that make any difference to my chances of getting them?
I only ordered 3, so maybe they're letting me have them for not being too greedy.:)

It is people like you, who abuse offers, that make retailers so unwilling to compromise. We see numerous examples where retailers are seemingly unfair to consumers who are trying to assert their legitimate rights. It is cases like this that make me realise why they do it - after all, why should they play fair if people like you take the p*ss?Gone ... or have I?0 -
Why so grouchy?
It wasn't an 'offer' - it was a mistake which many people tried their luck with. If it was a genuine offer and I ordered 3, it wouldn't be taking the p*ss, now would it?
I don't expect to get the TVs and I'm really not taking it seriously.
I do want my £20.01 back though (6p for the TVs, £19.95 for the postage)!!
