Comet 2p tv's

Hello moneysavers!!

I have just placed an order with comet who had posted on their website an LG tv for 2 pence. They have taken the item off the website now but before they did I was able to place an order for which I printed an order confirmation complete with delivery date etc.

Since then I received an email stating there was a problem with my payment, In fact all my colleagues did, before receiving a final email stating that the order would not be processed as the item was not in stock. In addition to this they stated that the order would be cancelled as the item was out of stock.

Now I appreciate this was an opportunistic moment but does an order confirmation give me any rights as a consumer? Are they able yo cancel an order due to stock issues? Hope I have explained this well enough.

Before many people jump in pointing out there are, like, 30,000 threads about similar things:

You have no rights at all. The contract is only formed when the item is despatched, so unless they've taken the money and sent the item, you're out of luck.

i have recieved only one email a confirmation email about delivery no other email about any cancellation or anything !! and this is the only thread i have seen on here regarding the 2p tv's at comet !
