go to Start / Control / System / Device Manager then double click on the Networks Adapters line .... is there nothing at all under that?
under other devices theres, thernet controller with a yellow ! mark thing, and then theres RTL8187b_wlan adapter again with the yellow exclamation mark.£2 coin savers club = £118

Mum's the hero. The next solution I was going to suggest this microsoft fixit That worked for me when all else failed with my tiny mind. Worth looking at and saving that anyway for other pc problems, it's Microsoft's way of bringing XP/Vista some of Windows 7 better solutions.
Night kiddo and lemme us know if there's anything else needed. This forum is the best IMHO.:cool:4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy

Well i thought it was too good to be true when all was working well with the laptop last night as today its poorly again lol
This time its the screen, i thought it was a bit dodgy as the screen would flicker occasionally and go funny coloured and if moved the laptop would freeze, but tonight the lscreen is very very faded and some of the colours r different, quite miffed at this as the screen was only replaced about 7 months ago (cant find details of where i got it repaired to get it sorted)
so i think i might lay the poor old fella to rest and buy my son a nice new 1 for xmas
still cant thank you enough tho for all your help the last couple of days
