Maybe try another bank such as LLoyds and forget about C0-OP.0 -

To be honest it's way past the point where I'd think "well, screw them". They can't outright accuse me of fraudulent activity and I leave them to it. It's the principle of the thing.0 -

Personally I'd pursue the complaint however, go to another bank in the mean time.. there loss. Banks and anywhere else you apply for membership reserve the right to refuse.Beth0

To be honest so long as they repay my costs in chasing up their mistakes (about £40, mainly on phone calls) and pay me the fairly reasonable compensation I've asked for because of the distress and inconvenience I've had to go through because of their accusations, making me worry about whether I'm a victim of fraud, whether my credit file is up to date etc - I asked for £30, which is fairly reasonable in my view on top of actual provable costs - I'll be more than happy to draw a line under the whole silly thing and give them a chance. After all, the whole point of compensation is to try and say sorry and make amends, which at the moment nobody seems to be willing to do!0

Oh dear.
I posted off the 6 years history on Friday (first class not recorded, mind, as the lady in the Post Office rightly pointed out there might not be anyone there to sign for it which would render the entire thing pointless) along with my long letter.
Got home for lunch today to discover a letter saying that after review the application remained declined as it "didn't meet the Bank's criteria", which is odd considering that before it was declined as there were discrepancies with a previous application. Fair enough, I called up and asked what was going on and was told the letter was correct and the 6 years history would do diddly-squat. Asked to speak to a manager about the whole compensation angle, was put on hold and then told I'd get a call back this afternoon from said manager.
It is left as an exercise for the reader, having read the previous two pages of this thread and how I've been treated so far, to figure out whether or not I got a callback this afternoon. All I'll say as a helpful clue is that you shouldn't be at all surprised that I had to ring back about half an hour ago. The (very nice, apologetic and polite) young lady said she'd get a manager to call me back this evening, and that said letter from before may have been sent before the 6yrs address history was requested. Maybe. I don't know. Fingers crossed I'll get a call. It'd make a change for it to be at their expense for once I suppose!0 -
Hi I used to have an account with the Co op but it was the internet acccount Smile. I stopped using this account over a year ago ie no direct debits and no money being paid into the acoount. I wrote tothem requesting that he account was closed (but I have no proof of postage). Today I have recieved a call from them telling me that I am overdrawn by over £146.00 as they have been taking the £13.00 subscrition from the account. I have not received any communication from them until today. The male I spoke to was very unhelpful and told me that it wopuld be passed toanother department for further action. I told him that Im not willing to pay these charges as I believe that they hace acted improproperly as they know form the activities on the account that I no longer use it. What can I do? I think the answer will be nothing and I will have to pay!0

Oh dear oh dear.
Tuesday evening called up saying I'd still not had a callback and I was, to put it mildly, quite annoyed about it. Again told someone would contact me that day... they didn't. Called up later and spoke - finally! - to a manager who said that she'd keep an eye on the application and give me a call either Wednesday or Friday. No call Wednesday, fingers crossed for Friday. She confirmed that the documents had been received, and she seemed to agree with me a little bit about the costs thing.
With luck this is almost over. Hmm. Maybe.0 -
No call Friday! Call up again, get a lovely, chatty sympathetic lady who says she'll give me a call on Tuesday and seemed pretty much appalled by the sh*t I've gone through. No decision has been reached yet.0

GRR! Absolutely hopping mad... called up again, need this sorted by payday, and was told the application, even though I'd provided ID, even though I'd provided six years' proof of my address, even though I'd jumped through every fscking hoop in the book just trying to get a BASIC BANK ACCOUNT and spent almost £50 on phone calls to them, was declined again! Absolute idiots! Manager supposedly will call me back before 5.30, fat chance!0
