I sent them a letter explaining the discrepancy between the rate advertised when i applied and the rate on the info posted to me and asking for clarification, at the same time as I sent my id documents. When they sent my id back, they sent my letter back as well! No reply, just my own letter posted back.

Lol I know I shouldn't but I do find that quite funny! :D

(Sorry not laughing at you; it's Natwest) :)

Didn't have good experience with Natwest years ago. Closed the account and was just opened the e-saver last month. I need to take out some money this month and was told I couldn't do it without a current account with them. So I was transfered to their banking branch. After 40 minutes conversation with them, finally they said they can open an account for me. But I still have to wait for 10 days to move my money out... Really !!!! off...

Yeah, you do have to laugh.

Then screw up your hands and say 'Aghhh'.

And then throw up your hands and laugh

Can't you just go online and send it to another account somewhere else?

Is the problem that you don't have a card reader? To transfer funds elsewhere you need a card reader to set up a new payee. Unlike some other organisations NatWest allows transfers directly from eSaver to elsewhere WITHOUT having to first move the funds to a current account.

If a current account was a prerequisite for having an eSaver it should be in the Ts&Cs and checked when applying. This is a simple savings account that has been around for years yet the Bank still manages to make a shambles of it.

That's right, and very convenient it is too.

I think you have been incorrectly informed.

They certainly used to be able to send out an 'esaver card' that could be used in a card reader - thus enabling transfers out to be performed.

A complaint is probably in order - you've been sold a current account that you have no use for.

It seems that such things still exist.

When I called them, they said even if I have a card reader, I still need a current account to transfer the money out... So confusing...
