My newly opened Northern Rock e-savings account seems to be up and running ok (although I can't take money out until they receive my proofs of ID) so I've started shifting money out of Natwest.
I'm going to hang on to my Natwest e-ISA for the moment though as I opened it quite a while ago and am getting just over 3% which I guess is ok.0 -
FYI i have just opened the santander 3.10 e saver. i understand the customer service issues in the past and cannot assume its all changed but lets just say as with all bankks a bad experience is always voiced over satisfied service.
i have now got a 3.10 santander e saver as a back up account just in case natwest does not honour the 2.85. if santander messes up for what ever reason i can always just go online and transfer it all back out to virgin money.
I have also just opened this account. I was a bit put off because of Santanders reputation, but like you say, if there are any problems I will move my money. Worth a go, I thought. I also applied for an account with Monmouthsire BS - 4% on up to 12k, but they have apparently withdrawn that account today, and I haven't heard anything yet, so not sure if that will still be accepted.0 -

ok eviekins keep in touch , i just went to natwest branch to ask about my accoutn but the counter said they cannot do anything i need to sort it over the phone as its internet based account so i called up natwest who said they couldnt help either :rotfl: the telephone operator said i need to manage it online and there is help online :T
lol so i hung up and called up again for someone to tell me my account is still at 1% (i was fuming) but i hung up by accident as i banged the controls on my steering wheel in my car (got Bluetooth hands free kit in my car you see )
so i rung up again, after giving my sort code/ account number to be told my account is currently at 2.85% but they cannot tell me when its going to end .
the lady took my number and said she will raise a query and someone will get back to me within 5 days - so i laughed and said if i dont find out by today im going natwest tomorrow saturday to arrange to open an account with a competitor to take all my money else where ... something is fishy she could not even tell me when the 2.85 rate would finish for my account when its a telephone / internet based managed account so i dont hope to see that 2.85 rate on my account for longer0 -
Has anyone had any luck getting the rate extended by phoning them up? Mine expires next week. Am I right in thinking it goes down to 1.85%?
I've opened a Santander just in case I can't but would prefer to stick with Natwest, their online banking is the best I think and their my main bank.0 -

It will go down to 1.00%, 0.80% after Tax @20% is deducted!
Don't waste your time phoning to ask for an extension, it is a frustrating and totally pointless experience, I know; I have been there! :eek:0 -
Little update from me. Had a letter from Monmouthsire BS, once that account is open will be putting the full 12k in there. I've also heard from Santander with account details, putting about another 10k in there. Just need to transfer my ISA from Natwest as well and then it's all done and dusted. Cheers for nothing Natwest!
Would love to know how much has been withdrawn from their e-saver in the last month - not that they're bothered!0 -
Im in process of moving from natwest to satander.
i used to be a real old abbey customer with a old school passbook style account which i closed off 3 years ago . i now signed uo for an online e saver 3 days ago . I only just got a reference. whats next in the post?0 -
ok peeps i made a complaint and got a return letter stating that interest 2.85 % was extneded from nov 2011 to feb 2012 .
ends on 14th feb and 1% starts to apply on 15thg feb. logged on my online accoutn to st art transferring money out but i can only transfer a max of 10k per day . it seems they dont do BACS anymore. so its going to take me a week to take my money out.
moving my money into halifax online web saver 2.80% . until my santander is approved and then i will use my 1 withdrawl limit to move all money to santander.0 -
