even spending it creates jobs: expensive things to buy keep the people making and selling them employing too.

To an extent I agree, but there was an agreement that he would pay UK tax when he took a peerage.

He is paying UK tax. He's just doing what any sensible person would do and that is legally reducing the amount he pays.

Anyone who doesn't do such a thing is an idiot and obviously despises their own children.

Indeed. Putting money or shares in an ISA is tax avoidance but you don't see anyone complaining about that.

Is it just me or is there a whiff of the green eyed monster about those who bang on about wealthy people using totally legal means to reduce their tax bill?

It might be but when you’re earning £15k a year and some millionaire is paying less tax than you are it does grind a bit.

Maybe, but I guess that if you're on PAYE you don't get the option not to pay tax at source.

Tony Blair has set up instruments to avoid as much tax as possible, especially on income he has gained from the middle east contracts paid for by tax payers money.

So yes. He avoids as much tax as possible on his tax payer funded earnings.

Blair has ripped you off twice over.
