It really isn't any surprise though is it? Still, I'm sure that £3.4 million will go to something useful, like a giant duck house or something.

"The billionaire businessman has not broken any rules"

"He had got officials to agree he could become a long term resident instead, which meant he did not have to pay tax on his income from abroad."

and these officials were operating under a Labour government at the time...

It's not just the Tories though, all MP's are greedy, self-serving, lying ba$tards.

It does seem like the pay as you earn taxpayers are the only ones that have to pay all their tax.

Why does the name 'Robert Maxwell' spring to mind? Or Mandelson, come to that,

Labour, Tory - it makes no difference.

I'd certainly be sorely tempted. I dunno. But a lot of (''normal'' and ''rich'') people could avoid tax more than they do I think...why don't they? Lack of knowledge? Lack of worth in avoidance v paying for professional guidance to avoid? Civic duty? I think the difference in this individual case is there was an undertaking not to continue to legally avoid and that that, not the legal avoidance, is a significant part of the shadiness of this.

I don't think its a ''Conservative'' issue though, beyond the individual case: I believe what ever colour your ribbon is there is a temptation to hang on to as much of it as one can.

That’s probably true so therefore it shouldn’t be so easy
